Although some of the defenders have made some silly mistakes from time to time, I would not blame any of them (except for Traore being out of position far too often). If your midfield and forward players cannot hold on to the ball and give it away continuously, leading to continuous attacks from the opposing team, it's going to be hard for the defence to be consistent. They need support from a coherent, confident midfield who play smartly and patiently.

I hope MH can instill some confident ground passing, like Magilton did for us. When Magilton came in he forced the team to pass the ball around a lot on the floor. At first, they were very shakey because they weren't confident or used to playing that way but Magilton stuck to it. It worked out after a while and they started playing some really sweet football, which they are capable of. But you have to get them used to it and then their confidence will start growing.

Obviously, Magilton went mad. Hopefully MH won't!

Holding Midfield formation is what we need to work on, from there to supply the ball up front. I'd hate to sound like some typical copy-cat, but we need to learn from Xavi at Barcelona and play like that, always moving, always supplying, always creating space, but being confident enough to hold, look round, roam, pass, move into space, get it back, hold, roam, pass........

and not give it away like we did so many times today.

Its the standard of players in that Barcelona team that enable them to play like that. English football from grass roots has never had movement in its coaching until the last year or so.
