Grzegorz Rasiak - from the Burley years!

Yes, it is hard to believe he used to play for Tottenham! <laugh>

This guy first came on loan to us shortly after George Burley took over. He did averagely well before signing permanently for a fee of £2m in the summer of 2006.

He had scored 17 goals by mid January in his first season but later went on to lose his place to another Polish signing Marek Saganowski! He finished the season scoring 21 goals <ok>

With Saints in financial trouble he joined to clubs on loan over the next 18 months. Firstly to Premier League side Bolton where he did...nothing.
He then joined Watford for a season long loan where he did better but injury got the better of him for a couple of months. A fee couldn't be agreed between the two clubs at the end of the loan so he returned to Southampton.

After making four appearances for the Saints in August 2009, he joined Reading on 27 August for an undisclosed fee, signing a two-year contract. However after a year he was given a free transfer to AEL in Cyprus.

He then left after a contractual dispute with the club!

Earlier this August he was training with League 1 side Charlton but they never took up the option to sign him... (And who could blame them) ;)

He is now playing for Jagiellonia Białystok in Poland, I'm assuming everyone has heard of them <whistle>

I bet he leaves after a year... <ok>

I think you've got quite a series here RGLB. Saints have had so many fringe players over the years, especially in recent times, eg, Kamil Kosowski, Peter Madsen, etc...

I'm not sure Saganowski played him out of the team...he had 17 goals!! Burley and Rasiak obviously had some kind of altercation and dropped him and he never really played for us again, but he never stopped scoring when he did play for us to be fair

Ha, hindsight is a wonderful thing. Not going up was probably the best thing to ever happen to us.

That being said the Rasiak goal is probably my favourite saints goal from the last 10 years or so...
