Well, that was mostly awful. However it's very similar to the Wigan home game, and at the end of the day, it doesn't matter. 3 pts is 3 pts. I'm glad that we can play **** and win.

Just one thing I need to get off my chest. To all those who were saying Shola offers more to the game than Best, you can seriously **** right off.

Best wins more in the air, works far more, better ball control, and overall better on the ground. Did Shola win a single header all game?

Best is good when he gets a proper chance and is relied upon. He's not good when playing as a 3rd choice behind Shola and Ba.

    Ratings -

    Krul - 6.5 - Some decent saves

    Simpson - 6.5 - Good

Willo - 7 - Can't argue with the fact that we've kept 3 clean sheets in 4 PL games since he returned.

    Colo - 7.5 - Great game

Santon - 8 - Class again. Dealt with pressure at the back and some fantastic runs going forward.

    Raylor - 6.5 - Had a canny game

Guthrie - 7.5 - Great game I thought. Some good passing, good defending.

    Cabaye - N/A - Please don't say it's a bad injury.

    Gosling - N/A - Meh. Not bad.

HBA - 7 - Not one of his best games, but set up a great chance, made some great runs and was canny good, but playing hoofball will take him out of the game really. We played it along the ground more often vs Blackburn and he was immense.

Jonas - 6.5 - Some good defending, didn't offer very much going forward. Quite good.

Best - 7.5 - Fantastic goal, poor start but picked himself up and overall he was good.

    Shola - 2 - Piss

MOTM - Santon IMO, closely followed by Colo, Best and Guthrie.

Overall - It's good that we can still win when playing ****e. That's the sign of a good team.

Have to say i think i agree .. Shola pissed me off something rotten today .. im hoping he has a little injury so that he can use that as an excuse because his work rate was even below its normal poor self.

I kind of disagree with the whole 'we played badly but still won' idea - if we hadn't had that chance for Best to put away then it would have been likely a draw against a team in the relegation zone, and missing their key players.

We desperately need attacking quality, and I can't help but feel it will be a different story at Fulham next week, where we'll play long ball tactics and probably come out with a draw, against a team we should probably be comfortably beating.

Basically the point that I'm making is that although we should be pleased with the win, it's not a sign that we're a good team or we have strength in depth or whatever. It could have been a completely different story.

That's stupid, "if we hadn't had that chance", the chance came of good build up play, and a piece of class from Best.

Those sorts of things win good teams games when they're not playing well.

We need more up front yes, but it's silly to say we wouldn't have won if not for that chance... of course we wouldn't, but so what? We made the chance and took it.

Totally agree. If we had played any other team today we would have been truly annihilated. It isn't the sign of a good team to play against a **** team and scrape a win, it's the sign of a slightly less **** team.

If we play Fulham like we did today we will lose.

Harsh on Ben Arfa...Watching it on the telly (and according to my Mam who listened to it on the radio) he played really well, created most stuff AND worked hard to win the ball back if it was lost!

    See edit.

It was a pretty poor performance against one of the worst teams in the league. It's not, in my opinion, the sign of a good team that we won that. Not that we can't be a good team with improvements/signings/the return of players.

Agree with this PLUS we slowed the pace of the game deliberately, had we not been winning 1:0 we would've been more positive in attack!

It wasn't a great performance, it was a composed one! 60% possession says it all for me!

It's a good sign because we didn't play well, and we won. Not that were just scraping wins against these sorts of side.

If we played well we would have annihilated that team.

As long as the results are coming, it's a good sign, and the fact that we've got similar results from similar types of performances shows we have a bit too much for the opposition, and we win the game.

Big teams play **** quite often but win because of a moment of class, we did the same today.

Yeah but in saying that you're not taking into account that a) it wasn't a comfortable win, QPR had more possesion and shots and we only won by 1 goal and b) we played a very weak side that weren't playing premier league standard, you're implying that QPR are a team of comparable quality to us which, no disrespect, they aren't.

In this instance we can be thankful that we managed to get all three points but in the next few games that standard of play won't suffice.

The bigger picture is that if we continue to play like that, in that style and lacking attacking quality, we will not maintain our 6th/7th position.
