Several shots of Pardew re-arranging things from the sidelines with two or tree of his players whilst Cabaye was having his sit-in on the pitch. Pardew took his opportunity well, as did Best. Now we will be able to see what a half-time team talk by Hughes does to the team.
As an eternal optimist (at least when it concerns the R's) I'm going to stick my neck out and say/hope after a Mark Hughes half-time "chat" the game will finish 1-2 (even put a couple of bucks on an R's win @ 18-1).
Started ok,but we really dont have any quality. Midfield looks dodgy. Best show the difference between the two sets of strikers. One chance- Bang, one up. DJ has pace,so might be a shout. We look like a team in a lower league. As we all know,3 or 4 decent players in soon.
Almost as bad as being 1 down is having to listen to that pair of piss flaps that are Wilkins & Redknapp.!!!
I think the main difference is Newcastle's passing and movement are better, they look more like a team than we do. We're fortunate Demba Ba isn't playing...
We lack enough players with a good first touch and who are comfortable on the ball. Bar a few exceptions, the tendency is to get rid of the ball quickly, which often means a poorly directed and/or weighted pass.
Absolutely horrible shot - Helguson teed him up perfectly. Time for DJ or Macheda in his place? Bothroyd just attempted a better effort.
Dare I say we are looking a little more secure defending corners and set pieces? Cue goal .... Hughes has got them doubling up on Ben Arfa. Wilkins hasn't noticed yet.
At least I put my money where my mouth is! (just $2 fun money, also $2 for draw @ 9-2). I could also see this game finishing where it is now at a 1-0 score. Hope not, would really like to see us go for it and lose 3-0 (or 1-2).
