If I told you a few weeks ago that we would all be dissopointed to be coming away from Chelsea with a 1-0 defeat, would you have believed it?

If I said we started with O'Shea and Kilgallon at the back, a young kid from Ireland on the wing and Bendy and Sess up front but came away cursing our luck, we deserved to win, would you have believed me?

If I said we had dropped to 11th with 2 home games next, oh and a cup game, would you have believed me?

I dont think anyone will be talking about burst bubbles, the future is still very bright and Wickham must be near taking Bedny's place.

Spot on Syd. Real progress and even in defeat real signs for optimism - tremendous turn around

Yes, it's all too easy today to forget just how close we came to dead and buried. Fulham (h) Wigan (h) Wolves (a) = 1 point. Next up, Blackburn (h) - and 10 minutes from time, we're losing that! That 80th minute against Blackburn was our lowest ebb - Sunderland were on the point of imploding. Right then, we were nailed on certainties for relegation. I don't think we'll have a more important 10 minutes this season than that last 10 minutes against Blackburn. Those two crackers from Vaughan and Larsson turned our whole thinking around. We've never been the same team since.

Now, we've slipped to 11th and could go 12th if Swansea win their game in hand, but we weren't humiliated by Chelsea and only failed to get 3 points because of carelessness in front of goal. There are things that still want tweaking, but I'll take this any day of the week.

Norwich and Swansea will be no push overs, really tough games. Swansea's pace and movement will cause us problems and Norwich will look to counter well. Boro are on a bad run at the moment but will be up for the game. If we have enough players fit hopefully we can win them all. If we win them all we will be looking very good. One game at a time though, Swansea up first.

Chelsea are ****ing **** at the back, with a better striker you would have won that match. In fact, if Chelsea play like that against us, we will utterly decimate them with the likes of Hatem and Ba up front.

Now now syd let the kids play.
Said something similar yesterday on a different thread, although I didn't think we'd win yesterday I thought we were unlucky not to come away with a point, again poor forward line letting us down.

Yeah agree with all of this, i am amazed how dissapionted i feel losing a narrow game at the bridge!
If MON can take the team we have and make them compete with the best what the hell could he do with getting some players he actually signs himself!
I still feel really down about yesterday and i dont know why, i just hope the players dont and they realise how much pride they give us now.
We dont ask much (well some of us anyway), just 100% hardwork on the pitch and im proud for this team to represent me.
In fact the reason i feel strangely more down is that i feel dissapointed for the players because i really feel they deserve more and been a Sunderland fan its been a few years since i thought that lol
