Don't jump on me over this, not claiming to have a source or anything. Palace fan who works with my Dad walked in this evening saying we are signing Nathaniel Clyne and apparently seemed certain, also turns out the lad didn't play today. Coincidence? Who knows.
Not to bash scottish football anymore than we have already done but you get the impression that for a professional you either use it as a stepping stone for the English game or go there to retire like the US league. Celtic are obviously a much bigger club than we are or could ever realistically become but every season for them is the same and unless you're Ally McCoist that's just not enough of a challenge. If we do sign him I hope that Connolly does not go the other way as even with the signing of Lee I think his experience and intelligent running will be vital for our run in.
This is not a step back in his career, he will know it's more than likely with the team we have here and the goals he will add we will be in the premier league which is where he wants to be, on top of that he is only on just over 10k at Celtic so we can double that and finally we have Adkins who he has excelled under before! You can argue Celtic play in Europe but they are constantly knocked out by unknown minnows...plus it's Scotland it's not football it's more of a barbaric kicking match!
i would be very very surprised as we have Richardson, Butterfield & young Jack Stephens for Right Back
So would I. However as someone else said to me, Frazer is 29, Butterfield has only 5 months on his deal, and Jack is coming through. Would be surprised to see it happen, I'm doubtful.
Adkins sounded pretty sure we would sign someone this coming week. May not be the striker we're seeking, but someone for another position. Could believe almost anything.
Thats the player we are looking to sign... Someone at fb who has pace looking to overlap the rm.rw posistion !
We were linked with Clyne in the summer and I made a special point to keep an eye on him in our boxing day match. He showed some decent touches and promised going forward in an otherwise unambitious Palace side. I didn't see anything special but if the Richardson injury is long term then it could be a good move. I think we'll see someone none of us expect come in this week
I suspect Gunter has been targetted too.. He is premier league in a team trying to survive relegation to league 1.
Clyde is a very good young player so would e a welcome signing. But Richardson has had a good season and is top on assists Stephens may need to go out on loan first though
In fairness DTLW does have a source do fair enough. A bit out of the blue though. Suppose it makes a change from talking about Hooper lol
Hasn't Clyne been linked with some top Premiership sides, even Man Utd? Or is that one of their other youngsters. They have a few decent ones, to be fair.
he would never get in the squad.. so for his own progression he would choose a team who would a better chance of selection
It's as believable as any other rumour I suppose. In reality I am sure we are in conversation about several players, it doesn't mean we will sign them all though.
I don't mind loans if there is a choice to make it permanent. If there isn't, I don't really see the point unless you have injuries or emergency loan.
Like someone said earlier. I think it will be someone know has even mentioned. I mean who had ever heard of Lee before he was linked to us?
On Twitter there is someone called FourthOfficial who I have been following for months and in the last half an hour has said this: 'Southampton are set to make a much improved offer for Gary Hooper this week, confident of getting a deal done #saintsfc' And not long later said: 'Southampton have also made a loan enquiry for Stefani Okaka of Roma who was on loan at Fulham in 2010. #saintsfc' This FourthOfficial guy rarely gets things wrong and does know about an awful lot of transfers before they've even made the news on back page! His Twitter account is @Fourth_Official
