At last a great away win. Been a long time coming we have played well the last couple away games. But we were unlucky, great win and we outplayed them easy. Could have had 6 we were that good, great to see the passing style back.
Forest are a very poor team but that takes nothing away from a very good performance today. Back to our confident and classy best away from home like we were at the start of the season. Connolly - brilliant. Lallana - fantastic. Defensively sound, dominated midfield and scored goals again without Lambert, including one for the usually pants away from home Guly.
Guly is getting use to it.. And will be a player who is complete upfront.. we have made him a better player
Well I am blowed. Claridge clears up the red card incident, it was Connollys fault for heading Chambers elbow! How could the referee get it so wrong?
Claridge will be Claridge, what I found more amusing was how he said he headed his elbow then said I'd have given a yellow. As far as elbows go it's either not seen or it's red.
It was better than Cotterill's excuse - obviously he elbowed him because someone else got fouled before.
to be fair, I thought it looked a very harsh decision. I'd be peed if it was a Saints player being sent off for that. Didn't look to me as though he even looked at Connolly when he jumped.
Good coverage on FLS. Forest had some decent chances in first half, but defence did well when backs to wall. Great interception from Jos to prevent goal. Good goals from Saints..lovely shot from Schneiders. Watched Connolly's movement which led to his goal..great football brain. Guly as usual did little in what they showed, but scored (that's enough for me). That red card would probably be given 50% of the time. Remember the ref sees it only once and intent can be hard to judge. We'd have won anyway as we usually win if we score first and Forest would have run out of steam.
Harsh red card but difficult for the ref, especially when the whole Saints team surrounded him. I have to say I'm not very happy that some of the Saints players were trying to get him sent off. Why on earth did Kelvin run 50 yards to confront the ref - that really pissed me off. I honestly think the reaction of the Saints players got him sent off.
Wasn't a red card for me either. But then, we had a perfectly good goal disallowed last week so we are owed a dodgy decision.
I wasn't too sure about it either, I am sure there was no intent, but if you lead with your arms accidents can happen, it must have looked worse from pitch level, I have never seen Kelvin react like that before so he must have had a reason.
Shows team spirit when they thought Connolly had been injured, but generally I agree not good to surround the ref. I expect Adkins will have a quiet word..pointing out that a Saints player could get sent off if they'd carried it too far.
