of course we need a new striker. Connolly is excellent, but could easily get a strain in training on Monday and be out for 6 weeks. Lambert is solid, and olny misses a few games. Guly can be hit and miss, but still good. Lee is coming in and untried though does look good. To me that is one solid, one injury prone, one hit an dmiss and one newbie. One more would be great and then we can call Guly an attacking midfirelder. You need 4 good strikers in the top of our league and the Prem.
when he is ready. he is 16 now, so he has another 3 years of developing yet, and he needs a lot of it right now but he will be a striker with us im sure
I think we should offer celtic all the chamberlain money for Hooper/Kayal/commons . I know kayal is injured but would be an asset when we are in pl
To be fair I don't think the money is sat in a bank account gathering dust/interest, it was mostly used to plug the shortfall from last season. In any case Nicola doesn't occur to me as the kind of guy to throw money around unless he is 100% sure that he is getting a good deal.
It is probably no coincidence that players raised their game today knowing that there could be some new players coming in. They already know Lee is coming in and if they continue to keep raising their game then it will can only be good for our promotion push.
2 wins ... 2 away games.. 5 goals scored and 1 conceded.. quite a few youths involved... Hmm.. We are getting back to form.. but the NPC better watch out.. we had our bad form.. and now we are gonna tear teams a new1.
Very good point, this is one of the side effects of transfers that aren't always obvious. And with the squad mentality we have it can only mean that the general work rate will be raised.
There's no doubting it was a good result today but we are not back to our best yet. Forest were dire, probably the worst team I've seen us play this season. In the first half we were only marginally better than they were and we only really looked good after the sending off. But there are plenty of positives to take, firstly a fully fit David Connolly gives us a much more mobile forward line and he's a chance taker. Secondly Lallana is looking to be getting back to form, he showed signs of it at Brighton and stepped it up today. And the midfield appears to be getting the passing game going again, admittedly it was mainly after the sending off but promising none the less. When you consider we had four first choice players out today the result was everything.
The important thing is that the team never lost confidence after 2 league wins, but they might have if they hadn't won the FA Cup and Forest games. We are now mid-January and the team is still playing well, so I am confident that we can see this out especially with an injection of fresh blood.
I think if the Hooper bid goes down the toilet Adkins may go for a fringe striker ala chaplow and hooiveld. Defoe isn't happy with the amount of game time he is getting
Connolly wont be getting a new deal in the summer, lambert and guly will be 30 and lee is unproven. I think we could do with a class centre forward such as hooper.
