This guy excites me! He's immense and if MON teaches him how to shoot, they'll have a beast on their hands.

He's probably the first player we'd take from the mackem's if we had to, and the reason he excites me is because he is what I imagine HBA will be like when he's firing on all cylinders.

Exciting times!

Roll on QPR!

Sessegnon is good, but Ben Arfa, when he gets going, will be much better. Ben Arfa has the potential (and I emphasise that word) to be world class.

Without wanting to lure Sunderland fans in with this head vs brick wall debate; I'm gonna be the first to say that Ben Arfa is a much better player and watching Sessengnon is a mere hors d'oeuvre compared to the godly meals we should expect to emanate from Benny's feet.

Edit - looks like I wasn't the first to say it at all <cheers>

Always been a big fan of Sessegnon. Think Ben Arfa will ultimately be better though. But imagine both of them in the same team <yikes> One can dream, eh!

They're both better than Taarabt, that's for sure!

Agree with those saying that Sess is very good, but a fully fit on-form Ben Arfa will be a class above.

HBA is already a class above. Even when coming back from an injury, he was still setting up chances, getting assists and is scoring now.

His first start back against City he was unlucky not to score and set up a chance for Ba that should have been taken.

Hatem Ben Arfa is streets ahead of Sess.

Sess has great skill but HBA is a great passer of the ball, has good vision, and is a good finisher. Plus he's got a very good long shot on him and can take free kicks, and also cross the ball in.

Both are very close when it comes to dribbling, but after that HBA has much more in his locker than Sess does.

He's a good player. I genuinely think HBA is/can be better, as he shows touches of world class, whereas SS shows more consistent brilliance, but never world class, if you understand

Agree with all of that to be honest. Still think we will all be surprised by how good HBA is when we see him consistently at his best though.

I disagree with this. Sessegnon is very inconsistent when it comes to making anything of his runs. His finishing is poor, his passing is average.

Ben Arfa nearly always has significant impact in matches and produces quite a few moments of pure quality in most of his matches.

He makes intelligent runs off the ball, something which Sess doesn't do as well. HBA makes space for himself and gets in more threatening positions.

HBA is streets ahead of sess.

Sessegnon can do nothing better than HBA. Sess is a bit quicker off the mark and has slightly quicker feet, but that's it.

His goal against Blackburn proved it, sessingnon will never score a goal as good as that in his career.

Sesssengnon is class but Ben Arfa when he hits that sweet spot is a higher level than most of the entire premiership, (i can only think of david silva in terms of dexterity and flight of foot) when is the last time rooney did what ben arfa did against blackburn? even against a really poor defence from a lower league rooney has never done that. Sure he scored an awesome overhead but so do players in the irish league, bloody good overheads aswell, so wat if it wasnt in front of thousands in an important game, judge the goal on the goal itself.

Lets get this clear aswell lads, has benny even had a full game yet this season? has he ever had a cosnsistent run of starts? NO

The lad is one of the best players in the prem and just needs to be played.

I love pardew but some of his selections baffle me, hopefully there is something we dont know and thats the reason, MOREOVER pardews subs are often terrible and he has an unwillingness to try new formations.

However we sit 7th in a very strong league, will be 6th tommorow if we win and im very happy overall.

Our team is the stealthiest team in the country, cheap as chips, everything underates us and i honestly think our first team on its day, with the right formation utilising the best players with everone fit, is easily as good as most in the league, we thrashed united and they can say what they want but it was pretty much their first team.

From a Safc fans point of view I think statements that HBA is streets ahead of Sess is ridiculous, both are very talented players and I don't think I'm the only Sunderland fan who would say Lionel Sessi is one of the best players we've ever had at the club, like others have said already he is consistently turning out brilliant performances, he makes some of the premier leagues best defenders look like sunday league players at times and as for this argument about no end product it is generally other players messing up opportunities he creates for them (mainly bendtner). His long range shooting has been awful this season no doubt but overall he has been a class above any other player for us.

I haven't seen enough of HBA to comment on who is better and like I said I think both are superb players. However any fan claiming HbA is streets ahead is Sess needs to give their heads a shake.

Sess is a great player, but HBA possesses a lot more quality overall though. They're both very skillful, but HBA's quality of passing, crossing and shooting are far better than Sess's.

Not seen enough Of him Tash to argue against you I'll probs watch your game tomorrow so will be able to judge better then.

From what I've seen I would say Sesses first touch, acceleration and agility look better but I do concede HBA has more class in the final third.
