how hard is it to start unemployed on football manager? i cant decide who to manage so i thought that might be the best way to make me decide

It's easy enough to get a job, it just might be in the Belarussian 1st Division (true story). Even on automatic rep, you get jobs from newly promoted sides to the BSN and BSS from the second season. Quite a lot of players start unemployed and holiday for the first year, then take over a newly promoted team like FC United of Manchester (who usually get promoted to the BSN for the 2nd season).

P.S. If you don't care what country you start in, you'll get a job early, in one of the calendar year leagues (Brazil, Sweden, Belarus, etc.) who are half-way through their seasons already. Fun way to get chucked in at the deep end.

Signed for Bristol city at the start of October. 11 games gone 7 points and bottom of the league but only 2 points from being out of the relegation zone. I reackon i could do it but the injury list is terrible

After scraping through to the CL knockout rounds with Lille on my FM save, I draw Real Madrid straight away. <wah>

Trick is counter attacking football with fast players. If you defend well, they'll end up overloading you, and you can whack 'em on the break. Either that or attack them like crazy, try and get a goal and then play the revolutionary formation 9-1.

Counter attack worked OK against Bayern (who are similar to Real in strength I suppose), have to beat them eventually though unless I bank on penalties. On FM11 I did once play a 5-5-0 when protecting a 1-0 first half leg lead against Chelsea <laugh>

I just bought FM12!

Downloading it off Steam now, any tips considering I'm a bit ****.

Choose a team other than Bolton. *rimshot*

More seriously, I'd play around with a few teams in a few different leagues at first, until you find the set-up that works for you. Or you could jump in at the deep end and try to get Vauxhall Motors into the Champions League.
