good evening chaps ... ..another draw ..and really worrying with the lack of goals from this team. i want to ask my fellow liverpool fans the question.....is daglish really the right man for the job? the reason being .....we are half way into the season , we keep playing the same brand of football...and the same players are under performing week in and out. i mean..5 players in defence at home against stoke , leaving a 35 million pound striker on the bench (not worth 10 million) and the fact that players like stewart downing just cant cut it with our current team. much is being said about the strikers but i think we have seriously mis used our transfer cash on other players my question is ..should we be on the lookout for new manager ? we are half way and nothing has changed at all......and new striking options are absolutely essential and on a side note......what is steve clarkes area of expertise ? i mean we look very solid in defence but whats the point when we cant score....
Dalglish had a mare today. Formation was terrible from start to end, and not to take off a defender at half time or even when Carroll came on bemused me (well tbh enraged me). Kuyt has not scored all season, we are struggling to score from midfield too, so playing 5 defenders was certainly not going to improve the amount of chances created. Coates looks clumsy, Henderson does close to nothing, Downing has got no final ball, Carroll doesn't fit into the team, Adam is not good enough for this standard. And of the 3 good signings; Enrique gets te wrong side of players all the time and tries to shoot from range but fails, Suarez is a Racist (minimum a twat) and Bellamy seemingly can't play 2 games in a week
Lol, what? I would take us drawing 0-0 than losing 1-0, our defence has been excellent so that quote really makes no sense. We win one week and we get topics saying how were gonna win fourth and how excellent we are, week later and we draw and were questioning the manager and saying how it's over for us. No other manager could really do more than what Daglish is doing, maybe playing Downing week in week out is a problem as he doesn't ever seem to be improving, at least with Carroll he does do some decent stuff on the pitch but doesn't do enough of it at the moment. Personally would drop Downing for Maxi or Sterling, he has been amazing for the reserves this year and deserves some reward for what he's been doing, the only time he had a chance was when he scored 5 last season and got on the bench of a Europa match, good thing him and Coady have been training with the first team, should of been on the bench against Stoke instead of 3 full backs which really didn't make much sense. Our defence is one of the best in the league at the moment and has got Agger to play all the time and Skrtel to play fantastic this season. Johnson has silenced his critics and Enrique is being heavily suggested for a Spain call up, so nothign wrong there. If we have someone to play with Carroll or instead of, we should just try it because at the moment goals are lacking. Next match against Bolton would like to see us like this: Reina Johnson-Agger-Skrtel-Enrique Gerrard-Henderson Jonjo Maxi-Carroll-Bellamy with Sterling on the bench to come on if were winning in the last ten minutes. But yeah, calm down, we still have 5 months to go.
Haven't seen an article like that in some months . Love the way you act as if nothing's wrong and then procede to put a lineup involving Maxi and Bellamy, you do realise that will never happen? And that's sort of why people are angry. There was no need for our stupid formation and lineup today.
Not articles, but people mention it after matches. Defensively were awesome, we create chances and play good football and keep the ball, our problem is having people in the box and actually taking the chances we have. I know we have problems but it's not as if we just lost and didn't ever look like we were going to score, we played well but just couldn't score, massive difference. And there was need for the formation from the start of the match, if Stoke actually wanted to try and score then this formation really cancels them as they had no chances at all, but seeing as they were only coming for 0-0 then yes the formation didn't work, but would've if they wanted to play, as i said in the other thread that after the first half we should have realised than they were coming here for a draw and changed to a 4-2-1-3. Also i said that our line up is a problem because for some reason Downing keeps playing without really doing much.
Stoke always play for 0-0 though! They've scored 8 goals away from home this season, surely that says all you need to know? We didn't need a 5-4-1 formation, it's bizarre. We should have gone with a straight 4-4-2 and really hammered their defence. Maxi and Bellers should have started so as to get behind their defence and Carroll perhaps too (seeing as he's our ONLY striker). Thats how we should have approached today's match. and that's not said with hindsight either.
They just won 3 out of 4 away matches recently so clearly they don't go for 0-0's do they? Look at their results before you say that. We would of lost if we played 4-4-2, Gerrard and Adam wouldn't hold and putting Henderson on the wing wouldn't offer much. We need three in the middle as Henderson has the ability to listen to instruction, Gerrard and Adam doesn't.
I just think it's a very slippery slope if we set out our team to cancel out the oppositions strengths (Barcelona aside). We should be playing to OUR strenghts ffs, let stoke try and set their team up to battle the likes of maxi and bellers cutting in. We shouldnt stop playing the way we play because we're afraid of losing, it's called negative football. This season we've set the team up as best we can with the players we have and have been unlucky to draw. Today though we were negative and defensive and got exactly what we deserved.
What are our strengths then? Having a great defence so our midfield can not worry about the back so much and are able to push up, alot of wing play and our full backs pushing up, short passing with quick movement. We did that against Stoke but the problem we had is that we don't take our chances, which i said was our problem but you said i clearly think that there's nothing wrong.
Yes those are our strenghts but accomplished with midfielders/attackers - Today I was getting annoyed when Coates or Carra messed up an attacking movement, then paused to realise that they're ****ing defenders at the end of the day! Likewise with Enrique and Johnson!
I do believe that Steve Clarke is a defensive coach. He was also a defender when playing and since we've got a great defensive record this year I'd say he's doing a good job. I do question who is doing the attacking coaching, cause that clearly isnt working, even with Suarez we were still struggling for goals. I know KK said he wasnt looking to add this winter, but everyone can see what we're missing and thats a goalscorer and with goalless home draws fourth is going to be difficult.
I have thought fo ages we need a striker coach. Steve Clarks there for the defence for sure, and its great to have some one for that. But I'd love a striker coach. Shearer loves talking about what Carroll should be doing on the BBC. Do you think we could ever persuade him? Fowler would be great. But I don't even know what country he is in now.
If you don't know what Steve Clarke's job is you should seriously do some research - The LFC website might be a good start. Or if you've heard of google then you might find some information
I didn't go to bangkok... I went to bangcunt. Although, I'm still uncertain whether I was banging cockless ****s. Either way - It was cheap and they shower you afterwards and even clip your nails for an extra 50p. Bit dodgy when you get back to the hotel and the Mrs asks why you've all of a sudden got perfect nails and smell of some Asian fusion shower gel
we have a mare and still get a point... kinda shows how far we've come. 12 months ago. 0-0 at home to stoke would have been seen as a good outcome.. eek
