Seems like Pulis is well keen to offload Jones to Wolves - http://www.squeakybumtime.com/premi...yne-jones-and-4m-for-hit-man-steven-fletcher/ Tony Pulis is going to test Mick McCarthyâs mettle by reportedly offering Kenwyne Jones and £4m for Wolves hit-man Steven Fletcher. The Wolves striker has stepped his performances up another level this season and is the clubâs top-scorer with eight league goals. Despite this good form, Wolves have been struggling to find consistency in their play and are set for another year of relegation threatened football. Stoke meanwhile, continue to consolidate themselves as an established Premier League club, bringing in players of the ilk of Peter Crouch and Matthew Upson. They are now looking to the 24-year-old striker, who Pulis sees as a younger and harder working version of their former record signing Jones. The relationship between Jones, whose first-team apperances have been limited this season, and Pulis has been strained over the past six months and the manager is ready to use the Trinidad and Tobago international as a make-weight in the deal to attract McCarthy into selling his prized asset. The Scottish-international signed for Wolves for £6.5m from Burnley in 2010 and quickly developed into their main man in the forward line, even becoming more influential than Kevin Doyle. His strength in the air along with his instinctive finishing skills have made him a top target for Pulisâ Stoke side, who are notoriously very direct in their attacking play. McCarthy however has insisted that there is âno chanceâ Wolves will sell their top scorer, who has scored five in his last six Premier League games. Pulis realises this but offering a like-for-like replacing in Jones plus a big chunk of cash could be enough for the former Republic of Ireland manager to consider his options.
Surely McCarthy isn't so stupid as to go for that deal. If we pulled that off, that would be a fantastic deal as I really rate Fletcher, but surely McCarthy wouldn't do that. Replace someone who scores regularly for someone who turns up when he feels like it? If this happened, this would relegate Wolves I think.
I have to say I agree with you on that one Sarge. But the added 4 mill to bring in someone else too might just be too tempting an offer to refuse. If there is truth in this story then it proves one thing and that is Pulis is keen to offload Jones which has to be a good thing for Stoke. Disappointed Delap is staying on though as that shows a real lack of progression :-(
That is true Waddo and it shows that even Pulis has limits with his favourites, because we all know how much Pulis likes Jones. Or maybe Jones is forcing the issue, and doesn't like playing second fiddle to Crouch. Shock! Horror! Kenwyne, you're 2nd in line to Peter Crouch.
Sarge we can't say Sunderland fans didn't warn us about this one. Last year his poor performances were allegedly down to his marital problems and so far this season we have not had a reson why he is so poor so it shows TP has finally outed him as a moody sulky player that is not prepared to put in a shift!
Interesting proposition and I think he is a cracking player, but again I woudl prefer more of a pacey one touch player to play off Crouch. The Defoe type, but I dont think there are many out there that we could even tempt?
