Do you remember it, well I think that in the main that one is now out of the window, but what is the new one? In many ways it's silly to predict a new 5 year plan, will MON stay, will he be given funds, will he work his magic, well I think yes to all three and based puerly on MON being our manager I would guess.... This season, 2011-12...........to finish 11th-13th 2012-13.............................to finish top 8 2013-14.............................again top 8 to consolodate 2014-15.............................top 6 2015-16.............................aim for top 4 Thats what I would expect MON to want, can we attract the players, if we look like a top 6 side they will come. All guesswork and run the risk of being called deluded but its time we had a bit of delusion.
You really are daring to hope aren't you!!!! I am far too battered by previously shattered hopes to raise my gaze to 4th in 15/16 but the rest could well be acheivable if MON stays. Let's be honest seeing the lads in Europe (not on a pre-season tour!) would be amazing as I was too young in 1974.
I remember Alan Browns five year plan. To build a title winning team on the back of youth development. Still waiting! Of course there might have been a typo back then and Brown said 50 year plan, which would mean that MON still has 6years to hit the target LOL
Nice plan Syd. Would be happy to sneak into the Europa tournament any time in the next 5 years. Consistent 6th - 7th etc, completely established in prem. MON retires on his 65th and it all goes tits up again. Thats SAFC and thats what we have come to expect.
Quinns five year plan had two main points. To reconnect the club with the fans. I'd say the appointment of MON achieved that overnight. The second point was to ditch the title yo-yo club forever. Well it's difficult to ever say if something is forever but of the six seasons Quinn has been at our club the last five have been in the Prem. It's a measure of our progress that even after a poor start this season we currently sit 10th with half a season to go. No one ever mentions the word Sunderland when talking relegation anymore. As for the next five years realistically. Top 6-10th consistently would do me with a few good cup runs thrown in.
I've been sold more dodgy 5 year plans from SAFC, than a corrupt Nigerian investment company sells to unsuspecting fools in a year. They stopped meaning anything after Alan Durban was sacked tbh. Nowadays, cynicism has firmly set in to my psyche. However, Mon is a rare event for me. He is the real deal and his appointment has made me all giddy and excited about football again. He's a top class, wish list manager that has actually been handed the mantle of expectation here at the SOL and the first one with the genuine credentials to actually succeed where all have failed for nearly 40 years. I just love to hear him talk and ooze charisma all over the place. I'm proud to call him our manager. He attracts no criticism and courts no ill feelings from other fans. Even our adoring cousins up the road can't help but like and admire him. He is quite simply the best appointment for 30 years at least at SAFC and I'm loving every moment of it. However, I dare not wish for too much in case I wake up and its all been a Dallas style dream and we have Pat Butcher, HowdidhegetajobWilkinson or worse still Lawrie the useless twat Moneybags ruining our club. Whatever happens in the future, for me anyway under Martin ONeill, it will be just perfect and a joy to behold. Life is bloody good these days for sure.

The first 5 year plan was knackered by poor management and signings and players leaving for no valid reasons the new one if there is such a thing will probably be This season, 2011-12...........to consolidate in PL after the abysmal start. 2012-13.............................to rebuild the team and finish top half. 2013-14.............................again top half, half decent cup run. 2014-15.............................again top half decent cup run/runs. 2015-16.............................aim for Europe. Can't see us getting top 6 anytime in the next 10 years if I'm honest, yes Spurs have done it after some shakey seasons but, it'll take us a lot longer to do the same.
