Now then.. So it's Friday night, weekend upon us so what's everyone up to? I've got my Lollie settled for the night, bought another lens from Warehouse Express, shuffling my balls and having a beer here in my home in York.. I'm a nosy twat so fire away, what's your Friday night? Oh and.............Ha'waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay the laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaads..
Mine is easy, sitting in my place in Coxhoe, blinds closed, lamps on, witing for Law and Order UK, lap top on, Osca snorning in his bed and at peace with the world.
I am hooked on mahjong http://www.freegames.ws/games/boardgames/mahjong/freemahjong.htm Link for anyone who wants a go
Bairn on his PS3 our lass gossiping on the phone to her mate who lives in the same close as us and as for me...a bottle of Miller and sky poker with NOT 606
Just stuck the headphones on, zapped the iphone on to 'give it to me' and landed up with 'highway to hell' AC/DC, volume up for this one, ****ing great singer Bon 'Scotty' was..
Son has gone out, he's got a lift home. Wife talking to one of her sisters on the phone so I am now commencing drinking vast quantities of Double Maxim (prefer it on draught but bottled will do). Hangover here I come. Going for cup tickets in the morning. Jorvik, lucky bugger living in York. Fantastic battle cruisers to get bladdered in.
I'm a professional photographer, bought the Nikon 85mm f/2. I use the 1.4 for portraiture but love the f/2 bokeh..
Just stuck 'comfortably numb' on from the pulse album.. I'm sure I could conqueror the world whilst listening to that song. The nearest you will get in your mind to discovering the parallel dimensions that are there to be found.. Simply brilliant..
gosh a professional photographer !! ......................I'd say I'm a bungling amateur, sort of getting into photography since I packed in work last year. I spend a lot of time deciding which lenses to buy as they're so expensive and I don't want to make any big mistakes. I've got a canon camera so I wont be asking to borrow your lens lol. Good luck with your new one anyway.
Always up for a bit of crack when it comes to photography. What's your Canon camera? Digital SLR or point & shoot?
it's an SLR (450D) which I think was superseded by the 550D. I keep reading over and over that it's what you stick on front of it that's most important, so I'm trying to strike a balance between quality and affordability in my lens buying. I've just negotiated to buy a second hand 17-40mm L series lens, to go with the 50mm F1.4 I already have, so that should cover most of my needs for quite a while. Ultimately I would like a better (full frame) camera and a lens long enough for wildlife. Dont want much do I............................. Oh and while I'm at it, a top six finish and win the FA cup.
I'll drink to that. I'd love to be a professional photographer, just wish I was good enough. I recently went on a Nikon photography course at their offices, it was fantastic, looking to do another one soon.
You have to remember that with the 450d you have a 1.6dx crop factor so the 17-40mm becomes roughly a 24-65mm on your camera. The 50mm 1/4 is a cracking lens but once again it is a 75mm lens on your camera so great for the odd portrait. I recently sold a Canon 1DS mark 3 as for studio work I thought it was crap. Colour Aberration even through the L series lenses wasn't a scratch on the Nikon. Use a Nikon D3 for weddings and a D3X & Hasselblad HD4 phase 1 for studio work. Got to admit though, still love the old Canon 5D full frame, cracking camera and can pick them up for £600 on Ebay..
yes the crop factor can be a bind unless you actually want the extra focal length ( eg for wildlife). I assume you mean the original 5D, not the MKII. I've been reading a lot abot the mk II , it seems very highly rated. Overall though, when your'e at my level it's easy to get confused. That's why I'm going to take my time. I joined my local camera club last september and have learned a lot from them. Probably wouldn't have bought a 450D if I'd known what I know now, but it's all part of the learning curve. I'm trying to keep in mind at all times that I do it for pleasure, and not get too hooked on the seductive hardware.
