The Hornets welcome the Royals and the 18th team plays the fifth. The travelling people of Berkshire are making the short trip into Hertfordshire. And finally the Yellows host the Blue and Whites.

    • The Manager – Sean Dyche about Nyron Nosworthy

“I think it's important we recognise the part played by both Steve Bruce and Martin O'Neill; first Steve in allowing Nyron to join us on loan and then for Martin to allow the deal to go through. It's also a tribute to this club; to the environment that is present around the place that a player is able to settle in straight away.”

“For a player to have made such a mark with fellow players, staff and supporters in a relatively short space of time speaks volumes about Nyron as a man, as well as a footballer.”

    • The Hornets

    Scott Loach
Lee Hodson, Adrian Mariappa, Nyron Nosworthy, Carl Dickinson
Chris Iwelumo for Mark Yeates - 90 mín., John Eustace (c), Prince Buaben, Ross Jenkins for Craig Forsyth - caution 67 mín. - 81 mín.
    Marvin Sordell, Troy Deeney

Substitutes: Jonathan Bond (GK), Chris Iwelumo, Lloyd Doyley, Ross Jenkins, Joe Garner

"The most important thing was that he was really keen to come to Reading. With the Irish players having come over and done well, that's been very important. We've got such a big following in Ireland now, I'm sure this will help as well.”

“He can hold it up, he can score, he can play up front on his own or in a two, he played wide right in a three as well so he's versatile.”

    • The Royals
    Adam Federici
Shaun Cummings - goal 26 mín., Alex Pearce, Kaspars Gorkss (c), Ian Harte
Hal Robson-Kanu - caution 36 mín., Jay Tabb - caution 65 mín., Gem Karacan, Michail Antonio for Jimmy Kebe - goal 42 mín. - 90 mín.Adam Le Fondre - goal 85 mín - caution 85 mín. for Simon Church - 83 mín., Noel Hunt

Substitutes: Mikkel Andersen (GK), Brynar Björn Gunnarsson, Adam Le Fondre, Joseph Mills, Michail Antonio
    Who will win?

Current form Watford wobbled a bit at the end of their cup match with Bradford City but held a late challenge. A defeat in their last league game at Portsmouth was a disappointing start to the year after finishing the last one unbeaten for quite a while. Reading have won four and lost three matches since the beginning of December. In the games they have won they did not lose a goal. The embarrassment of losing to Stevenage will spur them to try and win this match.

Akureyri's Prediction: 2-1 Reading for all the success they have had since the last meeting will not be clever enough to stop Watford winning their first match of 2012.

The last match: Reading 0 – Watford 2: The locals lost to the Hornets in the last of a run of five defeats which was also the visitors first win away from Watford. Reading finished the game in the penultimate position and look how they have improved since. Watford have just kept inching along andhaveactually dropped a few positions. Goals by Michael Yeates and John Eustace were enough for the visitors who’s goal was not troubled by a shot on target. The match was draw in two yellow cards each.

This will be a test of how good Sean is at keeping his lads focussed on the next game, because the club as a whole undeniably has half an eye on Spurs.

I think our defence is good enough these days to keep clean sheets, but can they concentrate for 95 mins?

another great thread Ak :), thank you!

I won't be at the game so will be watching on the telly...the darn Ladies' night is getting in the way...poop! (One of our friends is going to the match with his dinner suit under his footie fan clothes and then driving straight to the Ladies' night and stripping off in the car on the way there...dedicated fan, he puts me to shame! lol Though he'll be late and i have to get there on time...bummer!)

I think we're going to win, 3-1 of course...our rock solid defence will put paid to any attempts they might have, but we'll have one defensive error to give them hope ;)

I'm going for a very comfortable 2-0 win for the hornets. With NN now a permanent signing I think it will help settle our defence ever further.

NNW hopefully the guys will be fighting even harder so they get picked for the Spurs game.

Hey Any Royals People Going Tomorrow, if you spot Mr Tim Dellor of Radio fame there (he'll be the one in the condemned stand with a Picnic Hamper and Butler), encourage him to make his usual snotty remarks about Watford not being up to his standards and how it should be one of Readings easier games......some year or other law of averages says he might get close to being right.(Something to do with Reading never having played in Europe or in an FA Cup Final perhaps)

I have bet on Watford every game this season except for Donny and Bradford - and in each of those games we scored 4. So I will not be darkening the door of messrs William Hill.

The Golden boys have been a bit of a bogey team for us over the last couple of seasons. I think it'll be a draw.

Shepps won't play btw as the Irish League finished weeks ago and he won't be match fit.

I take it you don't like Mr Dellor much. I was quite surprised to read this about him.

" Dellors position as local radio sports commentator gives him a surprising amount of leverage over Reading FC. He was implicated in the sacking of Brendan Rodgers as it was felt that his outburst on air and rudeness to Dellor had been a contributing factor in his dismissal".

The man is a jumped up sports journalist. I think we are lucky to have had Oliver Phillips at the Observer.
