Andy, I really don't mean to be rude, but the comparison with Blackpool really is not an intelligent one. Blackpool were a team pretty much built around one player, Charlie Adam. Liverpool started sniffing around him in January and he clearly wanted to go. This unsettled him and the rest of the team and that is a big part of why they went down. We are not in that situation.

Lambert's interview on Skysports was a purposful statement. What he achieved by this statement was that when we now go for a player, they will know they cannot make stupid demands and that the big thing we are offering is a chance to shine on the biggest stage in the world, not mega-bucks to players who can then assume they have 'arrived' and therefore no longer needto put in the effort. This statement will put off the kind of players we don't want to sign and so save Lambert from wasting his time looking at guys who are not right for us.

Lamberts never been pissed off when we couldn't afford players in the past and I don't imagine he is now

Spend all you like in Jan - it doesn't guarantee survival either. You only have to look at a catelogue of clubs who have extended themselves only to be relegated anyway and put their whole club backwards years - Charlton, Leeds, Portsmouth spring to mind but you could end up labelling another 20 clubs throughout the league probably who have mismanaged their finanaces terribly.

I really wouldn't have minded at the start of the season yo-yoing until stability was maintained in the top tier but you cannot help but think it is a great chance to avoid that scenario after such an encouraging start. However, throwing money at it will not solve anything. I trust in good management to deliver the goods.

If Lambo took exception to our board or felt he was working with his hands tied behind his back then that is another matter but at the moment he is blaming the players demands rather than outright labelling the board unambitious like Billy Davies did last year at Forest. That ended up being a lose lose situation for both manager and club!

There are some great points being made here, and Andy, I hope that you can now see that you need to look at things differently! <ok>

Don't be upset by questions being asked about your club loyalty! You say you didn't appear on the old 606, so you will not know that over the final year or so of it's existence, we were plagued with posts from new posters claiming to be City fans and stirring up all sorts of trouble; tends to make us suspicious of newcomers posting stuff that doesn't fit with the way our club is now heading! <ok>

Look forward to reading more positive posts from you in the future!

    <cheers>

This is definitely how Lambert works.

Like this theory and it explains why he would come out and say something like that. it also defuses any tensions from the section of the support that are demanding signings.

Has anyone heard what he said in another interview... reporter asked "is there were any players from the youth setup that could make it in the next couple of years?" his response "well that would make it 5 years or so, thats unheard of nowadays!"

The doom and gloom site is having a field day with that response <doh>

I think he used to be andynorwichcity1989 or similar on the old BBC version.

His case/argument is nowhere near watertight, nor justified financially so maybe try again Andy <ok>

come on chaps, whoever this guy is, it is not like he has made an offensive post. Maybe he is genuine, maybe he is not but until proven either way his posts should be welcomed even if he does not share the majority view on this board.

The board is here for discussion. If this guy is genuine then with the welcome he has received we may well not see him again. That would be a sad thing.

I would "love it "(sorry Kev) if we went out & bought players being touted like Rhodes & Maynard, but we have to be realistic, even if we stretched to the signing on fee wages would be a real problem!
This club has set a level & i cant see it being raised until we manage survival.
If we do then i think the summer window is when it would be reveiwed & probably raised a level.
Stoke city have done a very similar job & after becoming a stable prem out fit they are now starting to buy bigger named players on larger saleries, give another couple of seasons & hopefully we'll be in the same boat<ok>

Im sure we could see the season out with the squad we have, still no one can pick the line up consistently because we have so many different options in different areas, we play about three different systems and all the players that come in play as apart of the team. When was the last time you felt a city player hadn't really given their all? if were brought in 2/3 players on higher wages would we still have people so desperate to give their all for the team.
I entirely see the argument for improving any area we always want to move forwards, but bringing in players for the sake of it just because the window was open. We can still only have 25 players in the squad, it doesn't mean we can't have injury problems.
At the end of the season we will know our position for next year, there will be reviews of finances and maybe the wage structure is adjusted, players at the club offered better deals new players brought in. but we can't change now not knowing where we are next season.

I spend a lot of time reading on here with almost no posting. But I had to add a comment on this thread.
It's just really encouraging to see so many supporters who are sticking firmly to reality. Even here on an intarweb forum, where you sometimes get the most extreme ends of the spectrum as far as opinion goes, the majority of Norwich fans seem to be on-message with what the club is trying to achieve. (ie longer-term stability, if not survival, as opposed to short-term glamour).
I guess that a lot of this is down to the way NCFC have been open and honest with their 5-7 year vision, and have communicated that to the fanbase.
Browsing around on a lot of the other clubs' threads where the clamour for spend, sign, get, grab is unrelenting, it's nothing short of uplifting to get back here where the focus remains on stability, work-ethic and teamwork.

I still can't guess where we'll finish this season. (I'm sticking to my August target of 17th by goal difference as the final triump in a three-season odessey). And I'm very much aware that all fortunes in football are transient and none of us know how long the good times will ever last.
But one thing I am 100% sure of is that the ride we're on at the moment, that started after a 7-1 thrashing in League 1 and currently has us punching above our weight by miles in the Premier League, will in time come to be valued by us as the most golden of golden years.
Because even if a billionaire comes riding in and buys us into a Premier League/European top-spot through mega-money signings, will we ever again experience the same against-the-odds togetherness that we've got now?
We're so often a "little" club in the enforced backwaters of the UK; disregarded, overlooked, condescended-to, sold short, patronised...

    ...Long may that continue.
    We're alright.

Must be one hell of a coincidence then as I found this on the old 606 site following the 4-2 win over Sheff Utd

vman525 this was my first report i done i am a season ticket holder and will be next year aswell to answer your question i think its the fans when the other team scores and we are playing rubbish then they here the crowd is not happy they find some passion again to go a play good but for the other question i think we have had good spirit but i think we need a few defenders still in the transfer market as we have not got many and with all of them getting injured most the time we need them. what i think we need is 2 defenders 1 pacey midfield and maybe 1 more faster striker. hopefully we do get some and not lose any as we have nearly none already.

and a none too different style of writing etc.... The case for the prosecution rests m'lord.

Hi Thai - well discovered! I think, what Carra and the others were wondering about was the old 'Andy b - later to become AndrewQPR, once I had found him and noted the different ip address, I stopped looking <doh>

As you say, the style of writing is a match, as is the user name! Definitely one to keep an eye on! <ok>

This guy certainly is not that other idiot Dave, who oddly enough has 7 or 8 different IP Addresses! to his user ID. Been a busy boy trying to work around the system but isn't clever enough to do so <laugh>

Our Andy - andy2402 is a little porkie pie teller though as I have found a few other posts on the old 606

What a great post and I agree 100% with what you said.

We all know what a great manager Lambert is, but I get the impression we still underestimate him. If he doesn't go on to be a manager of a top 4 team, in my opinion, it will be no fault of his own.

I trust the guy 100%, and if he says its alright if we don't bring anyone in during January, then thats fine by me.
