I don't know why myself, but I would guess because our midfield's are not all that different. Lucas is still developing, so is Carrick and Anderson - he's not saying United's midfield is rubbish, just that Lucas is currently developing quicker in his tackling ability than Carrick or Anderson. If Chelsea or Arsenal had some young relatively new midfielders who were similar to Lucas then that comparison would have been used.
Yeah, I'm not bothered by whether he thinks our midfield is this, that or the other. Also, Carrick,who turns 30 in months, isn't in the developing stage. We are different teams, our team setup is also different, so what role Carrick and Anderson are required to do for our team by our manager is irrelevant. "He cannot tackle.He is like Mereiles in that respect.One of the reasons however to keep Lucas is Lucas' tackling is actually improving.He's not at the Mascherano level...yet,but he's definitely above Carrick and Anderson in that respect." This comment comment is simply an attempt at a sly dig at United, But, ultimately, it shows that he doesn't care how good he is, or how he fits into your system as long as he's better than Carrick and Anderson over in Manchester....
Sorry, I didn't mean Carrick as developing... rather as the "Gerrard component" in your midfield, fulfilling a role of controlling play. Anderson is often compared to Lucas as they are both Brazilians battling for Brazil first team appearances and roughly the same age - both came to the EPL in the same season so it's hard not to compare them. He's not making a "sly dig," if you'll see he's talking about Liverpool and the tackling of our players with a minor comparison about the development of Lucas' tackling ability to that of Carrick or Anderson - considering we play you tomorrow it's obviously the team on the mind at the moment.
Fair enough, thank you for replying. Yeah, it just seemed irrelevant given that this is a thread about strenghtening your side, which involves evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of your current players, not ours. It doesn't matter anyway, probably just a misunderstanding on my part......
