hi fellow Norwich fans i just watch sky sports news an interview with Paul Lambert saying we might not get anyone because of Norwich player wage restrictions the board have put in. i say the board better allow a little more in wages as if not we will not get no one in the transfer window.. we need some in if we don't get some in say goodbye to the premiership and hello championship. the board need to act now and fast. do the board want to stay up and get more money or go down and get less money .
If it had escaped your notice, Norwich - using the existing squad of players, sit currently in the top half of the table. Lambert has also said he'll not bring anyone in just to be seen to bolster the numbers, which makes sense to me. So who exactly do the board need to sanction the signing of to avoid the relegation scenario of which you seem so certain? Without upsetting the spirit of togetherness that has got us this far in 2.5 seasons. Christ, some people http://www.football365.com/norwich-city/7427022/Lambert-Canaries-can-t-compete?
utterly stupid post. if they compromise our wage structure it won't be the premier league we might wave goodbye to - it could be the club as well! we've only just escaped administration two years ago - we have to be patient until such time that we are able to up our wage structure, but even then, it won't allow us to compete with the big boys. if, and it looks an unlikely if at the moment, we go down, then the club will not be screwed again. if we adjust our wage structure to something the club cannot maintain then all lamberts hard work will be undone
Generally agree, superman, maybe a little flexibility would be ok? We could very easily be sitting a lot lower than we are, so I can see why some people would argue for strenghtening the team, but certainly not if it meant risking the developments we've made over the last three years
i'm sure the limit is set at the rate it is for a very good reason longsight. its a tough one but its good that our club are finally being run responsibly and if that means not bringing anyone in then fine with me. we simply can't afford to get the clubs finances wrong again. next time, it might be the end i shudder to think what some of these players we were chasing were after wage wise if it meant we'd have to break our wage structure!!
yes but so did Blackpool last year they where about the same place in the league and points they did not get anyone in transfer window in January look where they ended up relegation. the players will end up getting to tired and injured. could we get some good championship players that will accept the wage.
Hold on a mo, guys. Did I actually read Superman and longsight in agreement on a thread Dave, I shaid 'make mine a shingle measure' earlier. You musht have mish heard me, Hic.
One question that I shall put forward. Though I agree with our wage structure, is player's performance related bonuses different do you reckon or would they be on an even par? No way do we alter anything during mid season. Would rather go down how we are than go down with 20% higher expenses...
i'm thoroughly fed up with the blackpool comparison. why don't you compare us to reading instead, who also failed to bring anyone in after a good start and finished in the top half? blackpool lost the plot for a number of reasons. 1) charlie adam was by a mile their best player and him being tapped up led to uncertainty. 2) holloway, although a good manager is not as good as lambert. 3) we have a much bigger squad than they did - still 25 players of course but our quality in depth is far greater. 4) they had marlon harewood up front - we have grant holt. 5) their pitch became dreadful and ruined the way they play the game - not going to happen to us. there are many more reasons why you cannot compare the two
I think there has been a bit of a perception that the financial woes are over, they're not. We're in a much better position than we've been in for years, but we still carry debt. Anything that gambles making that situation worse again would be foolhardy in the extreme. I'm sure the board are being as competitive as they can realistically be, if that isn't enough to bring in the players we want, so be it. I'd rather go down and be financially stable, than gamble the club.
oh, i didn't realise... hang on... longsight. you complete fool. what are you talking about???!!! better?
Part of the 5 year plan between PL and the board was to go up, go down and get back up again. It should also be remembered that Norwich are two or three seasons ahead of what was envisaged when the plan was put in place. Plus the finances need to be kept on a sound footing for the long term.
You miss out fun option number 3 andy. We spend over the odds on a few new signings, and over extend ourselves financially. The difference in wage between the new players and the existing guys causes disharmony in the squad. Results don't go our way. We get relegated. We are financially back in trouble. The new players we brought in either hang around to drain us on their inflated salary, or get a better prem offer and ditch us for them. Either way not great. We don't need to sign more players in Jan. Lambert signed some great players in the summer such as pilkington, bennett, and naughton. Now with Ward and Ayala back we have a refreshed defence, and with Vaughan close to fitness and Jackson stepping up to the plate late on, we have new attacking options. WE DON'T NEED TO GAMBLE OUR FUTURE AWAY! Thats precisely why i love norwich so much. We are setup in a sensible way, and because of this players who want the money alone never get through the door now. All the team are wanting something more than a big paycheck, and they work together to achieve it.
Hold on a minute guys, don't you remember this andy WUM from the old 606 ? He's got you lot hook, line and sinker
Absolute madness! If we do that we will end up signing the sort of rubbish qpr have! Although lambert knows what he's doing. Players on higher wages would cause a very dangerous imbalance! We don't want the players here cos we offer higher wages, we want them here coa they play good football. Anyway if we want a player it would only be to give the current squad a helping hand! Lambert may not be telling the truth remember, he's a very cards close to your chest type of manager.
i am not that other andy your talking about. i am going to westbrom game can't wait. all i was trying to say can't we find good players that will accept the wages we offer there might be some out there like adomah watched him play he is great and fast. also lambert also said that he has to assess one or two slight knocks in the team one of them is pilks. does anyone know what service stop we are stopping at tomorrow as i have been to a loads of them some have good food outlets but some are rubbish and only have a shop. just wondering if its best to get lunch at ground or service stop does anyone whos been there know what stop it is. thanks come on city 2-1 win tomorrow a close game i think
I'd say this twat has caught everyone. His bait didn't look too convincing to me but I suppose if you're hungry enough.
