Id have sold him, if we are to progress, he wont even be in the match day squad. Same goes for Derry, Hill, Hall, Smith, Hulse, Ephraim, Gabbidon, Cook, Rowlands, Vine.
You missed Bothroyd ****tu and DJ. But I think the rules say we have to be able to field 11 players at the start of a match.....
I have posted an article where Gabbidon says that under MH the team will be better set up and know about the opposition etc compared to the old school approach of NW. This means players like Mackie will know about who they are facing, angles and runs to go into and improve. For a player to come back from his injury and play is great news and to come back and make Evra look ordinary is even better especially as he is still learning and has never played at this level before. I would rather ship out players like Vine, Rowlands, Dave etc who are not going to be involved and just there for mo money.
I dont think no-one will go yet due to the lack of players coming in and there fore selling these players would weaken us at this time, if MH starts selling players before watching them then it will destroy morale as the players will know that he has preconcieved ideas. I think the summer will be the most interesting to date but we need to stay up...
Mackie worth 6 mill , don't make me laugh. Head down and run , run , run. £3m and we should snap their hands off.
****tu yeah but maybe Hughes can do something with DJ and Bothroyd, i dont hold out much hope for the latter though.
Well most of those I listed only have contracts until the summer, so they need to be sold now or they will leave on a free. I think only Ephraim and Hulse may have longer contracts.
If thats the case then I doubt we would get anything decent for them and the players themselves will know that if there is no transfer fee involved they will get a bigger wage so may hold out until the summer anyways. I just have a nagging feeling on how succesful we will be during this month and if the players will want to come to us. Fingers crossed as we have just over an hour to register player(s) for upcoming game although not hopeful at moment...
Think MH will have a look at what we have first and then try and unload the players he is sure aren't going to make his 25. There will be one or two he's unsure about, until he knows for sure who he can bring in, and that probably won't be until 30/31 January. It's a big pity that probably we are going to have to play Newcastle and the big one against Wigan without reinforcements and relacements for Adel, Ale, and Traore, and with no Joey Sunday either. Hope the rumour about Anton being injured again is incorrect!
When it comes to Mackie, I wouldn't be letting him go any time soon. Who are you going to pull in that is better than him at the moment? Our priorities are elsewhere right now. As long as that is the case Mackie stays and plays for the shirt and badge with all the passion and professionalism he has shown since he has been here. All those putting him down and willing to "drive him there" should be ashamed! He's developed as a player and there is every chance MH will develop him further - he's hungry to succeed and I wouldn't be surprised if he made you eat your words!
ive been reading this post and swore i wouldnt add to it but the ball goes wide to dave thomas, are you in a mental health ward?? mackie and milner about he same??? milner can kick a ball in the direction of a team mate, mackie passes to whoevers manning the turnstliles!!!! worth 6million?? are you a complete idiot???, MACKIE IS NEVER A PREMIER LEAGUE PLAYER!! if he went to west ham he would be on there bench within a month, FACT!!!!!
Jamie divides opinion! Right now with players away he's close to or in our first 11. If we bring in some new players he's probably still going to be good enough for the 25. He's done really well after coming back from that bad injury, and looks like he will continue to improve quickly with his attitude and determination. Worth keeping for me even though he's not quite good enough to start now, he may be next season.
If i were the manager (on FM of course as its a hypothetical situation because none of us are in charge) I probably would have accepted the bid for Mackie. Whether Mackie would want to leave Rangers is another matter completely. Just because an offer is accepted doesn't mean you have to agree personal terms. If I were Mackie, I probably wouldn't want to leave, why would he when he is on the brink of the team, new manager coming in and a lot to learn.
Mackie is a premiership player he plays for QPR in the premiership FACT!!!! Where did Milner come from in this discussion I take it he cost 6m? So that's your science is it Mackie has a style I grant you and runs at defences ... I want to see that IMO he works hard and anyone can see he reads the game quickly and his off the ball movement is outstanding A good forward player should be judged IMO by the fact that he turns up unnoticed ... Mackie does that and has now one of many international caps . As to being an idiot I will take the Pepsi challenge against you any day In the current climate Jamie Mackie is worth 6 million quid. The game is global ... I have watched Mackies goal against Swansea being played time and time again here with total praise as he ghosted into the position and gambled then finished ... That's been noticed so you reckon at this moment in time that he would sit on a bench for yoyo West Ham? I think you win the terry ****wit award of the year
I would keep Mackie for the rest of this season, as he can chip in with goals, which is a very rare commodity for us. I certainly wouldn't sell Gabbidon as, after Ferdy, he's our best CB by a long country mile! IF we sign at least 2 new CBs I'd get rid of Connolly and Perone before Gabby!
Gabbidon is at fault for an awful lot of goals, he seems useless without Ferdinand beside him. Hes gone in the summer anyway.
Our slight upturn in performance coincided with Mackie's return to the first team and he is our joint second top scorer. As was said further up this thread, he is also probably not on much money (by Premier League standards), I would definitely hang on to him. He has a very good attitude, which clearly isn’t enough on its own, but is a lot better than some. Ultimately I don’t think that he is good enough for this level, but I would keep him at least until the summer. Are we really gone to get that many better players in?
