I dont think that Lotus will become a frontrunner due to this system. It may help to raise their performance, but one part doesnt make up their performance difference from last year to the top three teams. The whole car needs to be as innovative as this to be on the top spot.

 

Ferrari have their own version of this design. I hope Mclaren have something up their sleeve.

These crash tests refer to one that were done in late October. Ferrari passed the crash test yesterday.

 

Yeah I agree. I don't think there is much lap time to be found from this innovation.

 

The added stability may save the tyres a little, and with the front wear being brought in line with the rears who knows how it will help.
then again it might not help and could just be another thing to break.

 

keeping the ride height level will improve balance, especially when braking, meaning they'll be able to enter the corner smoother, which will mean they are able to get around it better, and able to come out quicker. It isn't going into or around the corner that makes up the time, it's how you exit it.

They could put a v10 in there, if nothing else works properly.. the principle and the mechanics/engineers and the drivers... then what is the point.

I appreciate the compliment but I should say that until I read a post like TC3000's, I am very much in the dark about some of the finer points of such engineering genius. Although I have a keen interest in how these things work, I am very much an amateur; my expertise being pretty much restricted to the manual operation of them.
