If David Leggat stuck up for Jeff Winter

I suspect it would read something like this:


News reaches me that that highly respected ex Premiership referee, Jeff Winter, has had his Blog hacked by some nefarious neer do wells. There simply can be no other explanation because I have, on several occasions - during my Press pack days - had the pleasure of sharing a drink or two with this absolute gentleman who does not possess a bigoted bone in his body.

During our cosy barside chats we discussed the likes of Proust, Descartes and Sartre and seldom did we venture onto discussing the parochial, Rangers hating, backwater that is Scottish football. It would have been good breath wasted as we are both acutely aware that there is a growing element within the Scottish left wing establishment that will simply spin their bigoted lies ad naseum to the detriment of Rangers FC and damn the consequences.

That belief, nay fact, is now beyond doubt due to the slanderous accusations made in several downmarket tabloids about this legendary and statesmanlike Referee who is universally regarded as perhaps the greatest and fairest human being (apart from Mike McCurry) ever to don the glorious black strip and apron of soccer arbitration .

We are supposed to believe that he made comments about Catholics and Celtic fans, but even if he did, which he quite clearly did not, I for one did not realise it was against the law for anyone to give his honest opinion about the enemies of Rangers FC, and that is exactly what Roman Catholics are, all of them.

This fact, like the esteemed Mr Winter’s innocence, is beyond doubt and like so many times in the past, I find myself asking myself , Just what sickening lengths will these dirty taigs will not go to in order to undermine the truly decent members of society?

It seems there are no depths of depravity to which these sub humans will not stoop to try and sully the reputation of a fine man who happens to support Rangers. Because let’s make no mistake here, being a LOYAL Rangers man is seen- by a growing number of Catholic bigots – as a Crime.

I expect bombs in the post and smashed windows aplenty down at Jeff’s house, because that is the modus operandi of the average Celtic fan, they have done it before and they will do it again and it is high time some prominent figure from a staunch Protestant background said “enough is enough”. We must circle the wagons in order to protect one of our own, that is only fair, it’s what the Celtic bigots would do in similar circumstances.

How long will we wait until Strathclyde’s finest hunt down the Celtic fan behind this malicious hacking? I won’t be holding my breath because clearly this previously august institution has also been infiltrated by men who would not know a non denominational school if they saw one.
