It appears that arguably ipswichs greatest ever manager has mase sexist remarks about a linesman at last nights game. Haven't people learnt from the andy gray and richard keys incident?
absolute nonsense from the media. i wouldn't normally back up an ipswich manager, although its obviously easier to back up paul jewell as he's doing such a marvellous job, but what he said and what was reported were completely different and he's being given a hard time over it. i personally think its ridiculous and he has no case to answer. keep calm and carry on agent jewell
That's good to hear. As you say, regardless of whether they are at ipswich or any other club it shouldn't happen and the media should not twist words. I remember after the fulham game and lamberts comments the mail wrote what lambert said about the fans to sound worse. The times used the same quote but a couple of words had been changed and the interpretation was significantly better.
Funny that you should drag the Gray and Keyes incident into this. Given that their behaviour would appear to have been tollerated for years by Sky, yet suddenly becomes a problem when Andy Gray takes News International to court. A court case that has subsequently blown apart News International's defence in the phone hacking affair, and led to the closure of the News of the Screws. You have to be the worst kind of dog-whistle numpty to consider Jewell's comments sexist.
As I've said on another thread, I think he got confused whilst trying not to be sexist. However the acctually words he ends up saying imply that she didn't give the pen cis she's a woman and therefore wouldn't understand such matters. Stupid yes, malicious no. That said I would be genuinely interested to know what yellows thinks, do I hold a different opinion as a bloke?
Perhaps the newspaper is looking for a story and as soon as there is a hint of something they jump at it and make it worse. This is the main reason I avoid the red tops. It's like an episode of eastenders, but I don't watch that rubbish either!
It was reported that although she got the penalty decision wrong she made a great cup of tea at Half Time!
But yeah, he didn't say anything sexist, in fact if the guy wasn't such a miserable git you might of thought he was making a joke.
Journo to PJ - So then Paul, from everyone to a man in the stadium that looked a stonewall penalty PJ - But not to a woman! Stitch up or what, I don't like Jewell but for **** sake that was low.
no he was a twat, gender not the issue, he implied the only reason the mistake was made was because a woman didn't have enough sense. Therefore he should be castrated. Posted under duress, sister and mother and girlfriend hiding the whiskey until I make a stand
The journalist set up a nice little cleverly worded trap hoping that Jewell might slip up, instead he jumped in with both feet and gave them more than they could've hoped for. To say 'to every man but not a woman' was bad enough but to then add 'the lineswoman, or whatever she's called' is just stupidity. Yes it was a loaded question, but he should have more sense than that.
