sounds a reasonable idea H ,unless the event is has been advertised by con artists! I must admit I am very circumspect of charities wanting large amounts of dosh upfront , before a sponsored event!

hmm, i see your point. i think the moonwalk was £42! I know for some of the bike rides abroad you have to raise a hell of a lot of dosh to be allowed in, but i'm not sure if you have to pay it up front...

I think some homework should be done on this outfit , like addresses charitable organization number , phone numbers that check out! etc , A letter or email to them for a break down of costings , which could be checked up on ! , If its clean I`ll shout Barry £50!

Thanks guys, but not doing it does make life easier at work as when I first mentioned the idea to my boss she wasn't best pleased and talked about referring the decision on me having the time off to departmental directors as it's just before quarter end and at the end of the audit of the accounts of my main client. It also means that I don't have the situation that I end up overtired from that much walking and end up having fits near the end of that week.

H, one of my best friends did Cycle Jordan a couple of years ago - I think it was for a breast cancer charity and I know she had to raise a lot of money but as you say, I don't know how much she had to pay up front.
N, I've known about the charity for a few years as the person who was chairman is also high up in Scouting on the island and it was because of that SPELL training was offered for free to leaders for spotting the signs if one of the kids in their troop/pack etc has an Autistic Spectrum Disorder. My ex-wife is a Cub leader and it was from doing the training that we were able to get the pros moving faster on getting the Asperger Syndrome diagnosis for youngest.

Went to Hemel snow dome to do my first lot of skiing for nearly 16 years. Unfortunately it was a lesson at a standard lower than I'd previously been at but it was good to back on skis again.

Afternoon all. Just had a bit of a scare this morning with a chest pain which came on suddenly when I was on my way to work. I went to hospital as I have to be careful as I was born with a hole in my heart. I spent the majority of the morning at Jersey General, having blood tests, ECGs and a chest x-ray and it's a pulled intercostal muscle!

Sorry about the chest pains, but glad it's only a pulled muscle. You have to be careful for a few weeks with this one <ok>.

Well done H, but how can you lose 26 and a quarter inches? Is this measurement taken from a number of places, then all added together. I cannot believe that you have lost over two feet from one place, there would be nothing left. <yikes>

Very impressive I must say. <ok>

I did hear on the BBC that I am supposed to avoid wine for two days a week. My doctor tells me that a couple of glasses every day are good for me.

    I wonder which advice I should take?

The official line from a "group of MP's" is that we should have two drink-free days per week. I'm not sure why they are pushing that when they guzzle for all they are worth at our expense. Perhaps they are all dyslexic and really meant to say 'two free-drink days' per week. If that was the case, for once in my life I'd listen to what they say.;)
