'âItâs a proper club â a smaller version of Man United in that sense.' LOL; a mini Man Utd LOL: Man Utd and proper club
As Paul Parker played for QPR, Utd and Foolham, as well as in a World Cup semi final, I am inclined to take his word on this. Great article!
I love Paul Parker possibly the best English defender of all time ? I mean that he could play across the back four and was always outstanding Best article on here for a while
Yeh, I'll never forget him playing RB in the World Cup in Italy when England got to the Semis. He was a QPR player then and a revalation.
I agree with Paul Parker - we do have a different mentality to QPR. We're not deluded enough to think we will be a big club, and we don't pay silly wages for average players.
I was in the stadium for that. Huge pride in watching one of ours at that level. Shilton let him down with bad positioning for the deflected free kick, but Paul had the assist for Lineker's goal. Heartbreaking night. He never got the recognition he deserved.
No you are right! He was a World Class player, yet often he's not included in teams of all time best QPR teams.
You have to feel for Foolham today As first Paul Parker knocked their fans then MH knocked the ambition of the club. Quite funny really.
Why the change from HammermsithBlue to LondonsFinest? Were you banned from annoying the scousers? I saw you WUMming them on a holiday from our board.
Has Mark Hughes moved to a bigger club? It's a close call between his previous club Fulham and QPR. THE HISTORY Fulham: Their finest hour was getting to the final of the 2010 Europa League. They were FA Cup runners-up in 1975 and boast legends over the years such as Johnny Haynes, George Best and World Cup winners George Cohen and Bobby Moore. QPR: The 1967 League Cup win is their only major trophy but they were runners-up in the same competition in 1986, the FA Cup in 1982 and the old First Division in 1975-76. Rodney Marsh, Les Ferdinand, Gerry Francis and Stan Bowles (above) have all worn the hoops. Score: Fulham 0, QPR 1 THE CLOUT Fulham: Their record signing was Steve Marlet, who arrived for £11.5million in 2001 from Lyon, but was hopeless. They spent close to that on Bryan Ruiz last summer but Hughes left because of a lack of spending promise. They don’t spend above their means and are a well-managed club. QPR: Anton Ferdinand is Rangers’ biggest signing, joining for £4.5m from Sunderland. Expect that figure to be surpassed by owner Tony Fernandes, the Air Asia tycoon, but UEFA’s new spending rules will restrict the speed of their growth. Score: Fulham 1, QPR 1 THE STADIUM Fulham: Craven Cottage holds 25,700 and they have averaged 25,314 this season. QPR: Loftus Road holds 18,360 but the average is 17,024. Score: Fulham 2, QPR 1 WHERE ARE THEY NOW? Fulham: An established Premier League team for 10 years, Fulham have had European campaigns, won over many neutrals and look settled in the top flight. QPR: This is their first season back in the top flight since 1996 and they are locked in a relegation battle. The good news is that an ambitious owner and manager should see them move clear. Exciting times ahead at Loftus Road. Result: Fulham 2, QPR 2 ------ once we start spending and get a new stadium, it will be a whitewash for QPR.
