Hi Guys; Dont post on here alot, but I do read with interest alot of your comments. I guess that the general feeling on here is anti Sky, but without getting into this debate I wondered if anyone had any knowledge about the channel itself? I'm wondering what its lanch date will be, what type of programs it will run (aside from race coverage) and whether there will be a daily/weekly news update etc? Any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated.
There's some information here: http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/downloads/F1_2012_Sales_proposal_(1).pdf The whole thing looks poor.
Sorry Smithers: I can't help. As you say, there is some anti-Sky feeling here (as with other British fora) but I can only speak for myself when I say I've lost interest.
Sky themselves are expecting less than 1.5m viewers for a race. Thats a fair bit down on 5m-6m BBC pulled in. Well I guess 75% of the fans missing out is the best deal for the fans. To answer your question Smithers the SkyF1 twitter feed has a fair amount of info on the coverage, the channels starting a week before Aus I believe.
clear and concise data not masked with over the top graphics or Americanised business babble, not a bad job. As for their viewing figures, they do look a little low.
I'd love Sky but probably can't afford it, if there's was a pay-per view deal at say £10 a race I might go for that.
I would watch Sky because F1 is a beloved interest of mine, but I cannot afford it and nor am I going to fork out money to buy it, just so some fat middle-aged codger can fill his pockets.. **** off... not to the op personally though
Nice people don't run successful multinational businesses on the whole. Being nice and being successful generally don't go together. There are probably a lot of people posting on here against Sky and Rupert Murdoch who use Apple products or drive a Ford without even thinking about the figure head at the top of those companies and how unpleasant they were as people
