It's better to get a good signing a couple of games later than an average one now. The next few games could be crucial I agree but there are still a lot of games to come after them.
unbelievable post!!! End of. Cannot believe people are knocking Adkins and co as we havent made a major signing by the 11th January!!!! Some people really dont understand the process of signing, its a fact that in Jan , fees are hiked up and generally people dont want to sell their best players. which is exactly what we are after. We are after Hooper allegedly, he is arguably Celtics best player, we arent going to just go in and nab him in 10 minutes!! I think it is really positive that we are trying to even sign him at all. Roll clock back 2 years would we even imagine signing Celtic's best player!! Think people need to be realistic, the club are trying to sign players and we are going for them now which is positive rather than waiting to Jan 28th!!! And as for some comments about "if it was me i would try and start the bidding process before january so the deals are all done by early jan", well who is to say We dont do that!!!! Dont you think the Lee signing was being processed long before ?? That signing and agreement was obviously done prior to Jan 1st!! Makes my blood boil when I see people knocking them because we are not like Leicester throwing money at people then 6 months later trying to ship them out as they arent good enough! This is the point i was making in my original post. And the rest of you chill the f*** out. I wasnt having a dig at Adkins and co, because i fully agree with how they do things and will do what is right for the club. I just said its frustrating that it hasnt happened yet and most people agree.
Oh how I wish these boards had existed back in Lawrie's day. Got us relegated in his first season? Right, out. Channon's gone to City - Lawrie out. Not made a decent signing - oh right, here comes the European Footballer of the Year. I share the frustration. I am always checking the Saints website to met by a grinning Jason Dodd or another view of the Coventry win when I desperately want to see a name player holding a red n white shirt. But check this out. We have a brilliant manager and Cortese has built a team who will take this club forwards. It hasn't felt this good since Lawrie's departure - and even then he didn't have the full backing of the board which is why he went in all probability. We'll sign if the deal is right, and that's how it should be. UTS
I'm not worried at all. There's obviously some deals going on in the background, as I think it is vital that we bring a couple of extra players in if we want to get promotion. A large percentage of the signings we have made in the past couple of seasons have been a huge success, and of course some of them came completely out of the blue too. I think it's great that we're not throwing large amounts of money around to get the same/even better quality a player. At least we'll not wind up back in administration anytime soon
