EXCLUSIVE by THOMAS JORDAN 11 Jan 2012 NIKICA JELAVIC faces an anxious wait to see if QPRâs new boss Mark Hughes will retain interest in him â with a potential £2.5million a year contract up for grabs. SportTimes understands that representatives of Rangersâ Croatian star asset had agreed a £50,000-a-week contract for the striker to move to Loftus Road this month. All that was left in order for the deal to happen was for QPR to strike an agreement with the Ibrox club over the transfer fee, with owner Craig Whyte slapping a £10m valuation on the head of the 26-year-old. http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/nikica-jelavic-s-50k-pay-shocker-1.1143225?
Heard he was linked to Liverpool as well. In Sparky we trust.......no that doesn't sound quite right yet.......
I think this was done before Hughes took over, Warnock does have a record of buying crap strikers. I cant see us buying him now.
The couple of times I've seen him havn't impressed me that much BUT he does seem to have good anticipation of where he needs to be in the box Would be a bit of a gamble IMO.
You have to remember hes playing against L1 standard defences 9 times out of 10. Might be worth a gamble if he was a free or signed on the cheap but will be a massive flop at £10m.
Such money on a striker playing in Scotland would be a massive risk. Has he done business anywhere else at a top level?
Think he knocked Villa out of the Europa League when in Austria, not sure if that counts in his favour though...
