http://www.portsmouth-mad.co.uk/news/tmnw/who_is_joseph_cala_722433/index.shtml Comment From NSN Various Pompey messageboards have uncovered evidence that this Joseph Cala is most likely to be a chancer and a fraud. Has the News uncovered anything along the lines of this? We need another chancer like a hole in the head. Neil [journalist for The News]: Joseph Cala represents an Abu Dhabi consortium, that much is known. He is one of a few potential owners in talks with Andronikou. However, his history is certainly chequered, as a trawl of the internet will produce. Check out www.undersearesort.com which also has quarterly results for the business. Personally doesn't inspire me. And his links with an Italian football club with folded soon after. Harsh? Well I think we have every right to be sceptical after the way this club continues to be treated. Comment From Tom Joseph Cala took over an Italian club last year with the promise to spend £40 million to get them into Serie A. He left almost immediately because of failure to pay the squads wages!! Comment From DavetheRave If the messageboards can unravel in hours that this guy has a dodgy past - why is AA even entertaining the guy? Seems like a waste of time to me. Trouble is we don't know who's in his consortium I guess - let's hope its nothing to do with Al Fahim eh? Comment From Emiliano His time at Italy was not a success. When he took over he found there to be fraud within the club. He reported this to FA and they have arrested the previous owner to him and closed down 30 clubs since thanks to him. This is why he did not pay the wages. Neil [journalist for The News]: Many of you posting things about Cala which are legally dicey so I cannot publish them! However, like I said, he has an interesting past and is well worth a Google.
Red Herring Jake. Remember the child who was an interested party a year or so ago? Although.......... if a real contender and passes the F&PPT then the whole FL/FA boards should be executed, hung drawn and quartered and then imprisoned for life.
Jake, is he the potential owner currently undergoing the "Fit & Proper Persons Lottery" with the F.A. ?
Just had this tweeted by Neil Allen at the News "Joseph Cala had confirmed his #Pompey interest to The News. Talks held with Andronikou. No Abu Dhabi backing though. Full story tomorrow." But........... I still think it's a red herring. Can anyone remember who the child was who wanted Pompey as his new toy?
