That's ridiculous. I didn't hear it, but the term was obviously used to describe his physique. He is quite chunky. Monkey rhymes with chunky, that's why it was used. You don't really think Burnsy and his boys tried to racially insult someone live on air?
No course not, I can't even rememeber who said it, but it was still unprofessional and could receive some complaints
Just before Christmas, the team described a former white HCFC player (who's most definitely eaten all the pies) as a 'chunky monkey'. I hate racism in any form, and would be quick to condemn it. This is simply a non story! Don't forget, young children are sometimes described as 'cheeky monkeys', it's the same sort of thing really. Just as ISTPLT said above it's just a rhyme and an innocent figure of speech!
James Corden's Belly I've worked in BBC radio (and currently teach media/broadcasting in a university), believe me it was not - within the context of the programme - in any way unprofessional. If you want a stick to beat them with, then there are plenty of areas to go at (e.g. going off topic, 'G' being a tad self asborbed etc). However, racism most certainly isn't one of them. I'm sure there won't be any complaints.
whats the problem with that ? quite funny actually. a term of endearment. some folks are far to sensitive for there own well being.
It's the sensitive world we live in - don't get me wrong I'm not a racist by any means but most things just get taken out of context these days.
nor i. but both fewings and greaves think that Fuller from stoke would be a good signing. i am 50/50 with that one.
Good, but you accused 'Humberside' (whatever that means) of racism. That is something quite different and shouldn't be undertaken lightly. Whatever you think of the sports journos up there - and of course anyone is entitled to their view in terms of what issues they choose to broadcast - they, as in the sportstalk team, are not racists and indeed rather far from it. Why don't you call the programme and raise it with them?
Fuller & Ebanks-Blake are similar players but I would think both are out of our wage bracket whilst we have the likes of Kilbane, Ghilas, Mcshane & Olofinjana on the books
