Try Sidari in Corfu mate. Only a 3.5hrs flight from the UK which is good for Greece (its the closest major island), Very cheap to get there and when you get there. Excellent choice for everyone and the restaurants are amongst some of the best I have experienced abroad!!

Went to Malia last year, the locals call peak season "animal season" would also recommend it for anyone wanting to party every night. Overly British for some I'd expect, watched QPR V Toon in a bar that advertised on a big board outside that they showed PL, SPL, Eredivisie, La League & . . . . . . . .The X Factor <doh>

I've been to Menorca 3 times. Very relaxing place. We stayed at the Beach Club Hotel each time (I think that was it's name). The capital Mahon is a good way to spend a day.

Regarding prices, I've always been half board but ate out most nights. Didn't find it too expensive to be honest. If a relaxing holiday is what you want then this is the place.

Be careful though, I got stung by a jellyfish....

I have been to Menorca, to Cala'n Forcat, and I agree with pretty much everything Tash says above. I really enjoyed it because it isn't a clubbers paradise, it was much more family orientated.

My advice if you're going with the family is to hire a car and explore the coastline as there are some amazing beaches hidden away at the end of farm tracks! Menorca is much more rocky than you'd expect so a lot of beaches are more like little inlets which is great for snorkling. Also Mahon, the capital, was gorgeous.

Haven't been to the others but my mum and dad liked Portugal when they went to the Algarve.

Puerto Cabopino, near Marbella. Being going there on and off for 20 years.

Benalmadena is lively, whereas Menorca is quiter, and more young family oriented. Never been to the Algarve, so can't comment on Albeifura.

Thanks for that, might have a look-see. I like going on holiday, i liked Greece, the rabbit stifado, olive puree, octopus and those little crispy courgette things. What i can't stand is the ******* flying, being trapped in that goddam awful tin can with a cocaine induced flight crew trying to do loop the loop with hangovers, all those damn noises of the wings groaning and the engines knocking and air escaping AAAAAGGGGGHHHHH!!! WHISKY NOW!!!

What about Goa - the flights cost a lot more but your costs when there are very very cheap - might balance out ?
You get to experience the tropics and always warm/hot. Flying time is a lot more obviously but some people dont mind that too much.

    No....? I'll get my coat..
