There is talk that we may bid £10 million for him in this transfer window and that he would like to return to Newcastle. This figure seems low so say we could get him for £15 million and on a weekly wage of around £40,000...would you take him back?

    Positives

    - He can play as a target man, with Demba Ba playing off him.
    - We need another striker as Ba is our only good one.
    - We would make Liverpool look even more stupid than they already look.
    - Given a run of games he could quite easily get back to his best, and he is a bloody good striker when on form!

    Negatives

    - Bit of a bad apple and can be difficult to manage on and off the field.
    - May struggle to regain form
    - Sacked us off for Liverpool/More money
    - May mean that we play 'hoof-ball' tactics

I would take him back because I feel that we really need a new striker and that he would work well with Demba Ba.

Would you take him back? What are your reasons for taking him back/not taking him back?

No thanks, he isn't good enough and I'd rather we looked forwards, at our policy of buying hidden gems, rather than take an enormous risk on a totally out of form player who always looked like he was punching above his weight in the first place.

No, we want to be pushing on to break top 6 after this season and Carrol has proved he is not the striker to do it. We will end up compensating our style of play to suit him to the detriment of more talented players e.g. Ben Arfa, Cabaye so that is a big no from me

Not a chance in hell, his fate was sealed a year ago. We are now in a better position, playing far better football and very few off the field newspaper stories coming out of our camp.
Alain de Pardieu has done a stunning job so far, the last part is something no manager has managed to do here in a long time.

MA and AdP have worked wonders in my eyes.

Not in a million years with his form and past ''incidents''. Backwards step, people complain that we play too much hoofball already yet want Mandy back <doh>

If we were talking a figure more like £8m then yes. Ignoring all the history, he's a striker who's had 6 good months in the premier league then went on to more or less match Emile Heskey.

He's played a full season for Liverpool now (jan to jan) and his league record is 4 in 25.

Just for comparison, here are our current strikers' records over the same period.

    Ba - 22 goals
    Best - 9 goals
    Lovenkrands - 5 goals
    Ameobi - 4 goals (injury)

In Carroll's first good season he scored 17 goals in the Championship. That season Best scored 9 , Lovenkrands scored 13, Ameobi scored 10 (injured again). Then being played as a target man he scored 11 in the prem, a role he would (should?) not be returning to. Yakubu has scored 12 so far this season...

Ignoring who he is, is a player who had a good run of form a season or two ago really worth £15m when he's struggling to keep up with our own modest strikeforce in terms of goals scored? His overall play isn't good enough and we'd be taking a big gamble that he'd regain momentum.

On that thought, how much do you think Blackburn would take for Yakubu?

I'd take him back for £10-£15mil in a heartbeat.

I have my own views on what happened this time last year (forced out) but if he were to come back then come this time next year, we will all look back on his £35mil transfer and laugh, big time.

AC was class when he was here. He loved playing for us. It brought out the best in him. He could be one of those players that has to play for his side or nobody.

Get him in back in the team with the No.9 shirt, back to his best, with Demba Ba next to him, smashing up the Premier League. With a nice profit in the bank to boot.

    Yes I'd take Carroll back.

When he's on form, he's not as good as Ba, but he's still ****ing great to have in the side.

I still think he loves Newcastle. I remember listen to a radio station, and someone close to Liverpool FC said Carroll spends too much time in Newcastle and his head isn't at all into Liverpool.

I think this would be a brilliant signing.

He's still a geordie at heart, I personally think Fat **** and Lambarse, they couldn't force him, but they urged him to leave and I wouldn't be surprised if they said something to him like "we know you love the club, but the 35 million could really help this club, and if you agree to leave, you would be doing the club a great favour".

His head was filled with it all and I think he really regrets it.

My only fear is that we may go back to playing hoofball if we get him. Carroll wont be bought as a bench warmer for Ba.

But if we play this line up

    -------Ba------------Carroll--------

    Jonas----Tiote-----Cabaye-----Hatem Ben Arfa

    Santon-- Colo------Willi--------Simpson

    --------------Krul----------------------

    I'd be happy.

We'd be very dangerous in the air, plus we'd have a player that could be the perfect player to help Carroll get goals - Yohan Cabaye's long balls and passes will be vital, as well as good crosses into the box.

I also think this would be great as we'd have a right footed and left footed striker.

I would really like to have him back. 30k a week plus 20k win bonus. Number 29.

If he stays and has 2/3 great seasons scoring well, I'd consider maybe him regaining the local hero status and offering him the number 9 shirt.

He made a mistake, he needs a clip round the ear and we need to really tell him that he has to earn the right to wear the shirt again.

I've never hated Carroll and those who kept on chanting the Andy Carroll things a year after he left are really sad and just wasting time that could be spent singing Newcastle songs.

I'd definitely take him, and anyone who wouldn't simply because they hate him is being stupid.

The fact of the matter is, we all still believe in this fairy tale about players that would do anything for the club. We're deluded. Carroll was offered 90k and a chance to push for the CL spots. I wouldn't have personally taken it, but I think 35m would have been too much to turn down, and as I said I don't believe 100% of the blame should rest on Carroll's shoulders.

I'd bet my house on Ashley filling his head with crap about how 35m could help the club more than him staying and his agents filling his head with the same crap, seeing as his agent would make some mega bucks from the deal himself.

Carroll isn't too bright, so he would have probably fallen for it.

There are soooooo many strikers for less than that that I'd want more. For 15mill, we could probs get Rhodes, Luuk De Jong and Tomkins as well.

He basically said we weren't big enough for him last Jan, so why should we let him back in now?

He didn't say that at all. Think realistically man. We were in the bottom half of the table, Liverpool were in the top 6, and offering him 90k a week. And also the move would have greatly helped his international career.

I personally still wouldn't have left, and I think Carroll wishes he hadn't gone, but he was offered a chance most players would have taken in a heart beat.

Yeah, I would take him back - but mostly to laugh at the BinDippers, especially if he started scoring again! I would even sell him to them all over again - £45 mil this time though...
