    From today's Mirror:

Modibo Maiga wants to give Stoke a chance to 'do a Demba Ba’ on Newcastle.

Sochaux striker Maiga was devastated when a proposed £7million move to St James’ Park collapsed last month after he failed a medical on a persistent knee injury.

Ba’s proposed transfer to the Britannia Stadium from Germany's Hoffenheim this time last year was shelved by a similar problem - only for West Ham and, more recently, the Toon to take a gamble on the 26-year-old.

The Senegal star has repaid Newcastle's faith with a stunning 15-goal haul in the first half of the campaign to further twist the knife at what might have been for Potters boss Tony Pulis.

Haha, I hope he joins, and if he's any good, he'll realise what a **** team he's joined.

    Hope he enjoys playing hoofball.

<laugh> I find it hilarious that Stoke have learned to follow our transfer targets. I can almost perfectly imagine Pulis sitting back after Ba's 3rd goal, dipping the peak of his cap and saying "Hmm. Maybe those guys are on to something."

I find it hilarious that its clearly bullshit and deliberately ironic. at no point have they quoted a souce from either party other than a line attributed to maiga directly after the deal collapsed with us. i distinctly remember him signing off an interview voicing his disappoinment at the deal not going through with the line "i still hope to play in england" or words to that effect. god i hate the mirror. it shouldn't be allowed to claim its a newspaper. it should only be sold under the title of 'fiction'

Nobody takes the Mirror seriously though, so surely there's no need to get too annoyed.

Read somewhere that Stoke were after a 6ft 8inch African guy (can't remember his name or country of origin). Would that make Crouch the small nippy one in a big fella, little fella strike partnership?

This. They should just go out and sign Johnny Wilkinson - would fit their game more.

Some people do believe what's written in there.

    Some people like watching soaps.
