Our away support is the best in the country. If we priced our home tickets right and Bates wasn't such a prick, we'd have a great home atmosphere again.
These Leeds fans are touchy aren't they? I was clearly joking, Leeds fans (away) are awesome. Their home fans are quiet at mice (but who isn't nowadays), Good effort last night, but I still think we'd have matched it.
You forget these days 88, football fans swearing is a disgrace to some people. I don't know 'bout you guys but I was taught by my dad, it isn't really swearing if it is at a football match, any of time I wouldn't dare swear in front of him. I guess if you're not a sitting down, attending one game a season, posh, clean mouthed, don't dare sing, supporting a team from at least 100 miles away kind of fan your practically a criminal. It's bad in Scotland. Rangers can't even call Celtic fans Fenians (term for Irish republicans) and Celtic can't even call Rangers huns or orange b*stards without been arrested, it's bloody football banter. It ain't going to be picnic and flowers. We seriously need to stop the criminalization of football fans, and worse the oppression of the right to freedom of speech.
You may talk a load of crap sometimes (most times) but agree with you there AKJC, the best home fans can be quieter than the worst away fans. Although last season Elland Road was horrific, Shef Utd was the worst. 30,000 and quiet as f*ck, I personally think it was the non signing come 3 times a year fans who split up the passionate every game of the season fans. Now with lower attendances, Elland Road is louder, like 5-0 down v Blackpool and still sang our hearts out enough to get Holloway commenting on how fantastic we were post match. “But I thought the Leeds fans in the end were absolutely unbelievable. I’ve never been at a place with singing like that when the scoreline’s like that. They love their football and they understand it. Leeds put up a fantastic fight at the start of the second half – an absolutely fantastic fight.” Ian Holloway on Leeds fans during 5-0 defeat to Blackpool. http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co....rallies_troops_ahead_of_foxes_clash_1_3935948
KGIG, I actually disagree. Where I go, it's normally the 40-year-old season ticket holders who I always see around me who can't be bothered. It's the young lads who I only see on the odd occasion who are obviously Members but not ST Holders who (attempt to) generate the atmosphere. Of course there's a few of us every-gamers who try our best, but more often than not, it's impossible to get things to catch on. I actually can't remember a consistently good home atmosphere this season. Best one was the Newcastle friendly, which says a lot about how arsed our fans are about the **** clubs we have to play in this league.
Yeah newcastle was good especially considering it was a friendly but Blackpool was better. Fans blasting out We are Champions Champions of Europe 5-0 down.
That's the one home game I've actually missed. Was my little bro's birthday so would have felt like a bastard ditching him to go watch Leeds... sort of glad I missed it as well! We can sing when we're 5-0 up or 5-0 down, we just need to sing all the time inbetween.
Remember those 40+ers were once 20+ers who remember what a proper atmosphere used to be like. When a tackle could be made and when you could sing what you wanted to without offending the pc brigade. Sky has turned the game into a safe sterile event. Atmosphere, well you'd have loved the den, roker park, st andrews, maine road etc etc.
I agree and I wish I'd seen those days, but if those people can't be bothered now, the next generation have to take over.
To sum up our loyal 5100 fans, who i was so proud of ............................................................ ........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................... FANTASTIC, THE BEST
Sheffield United Last year was 1 of the worst games of football to watch and atmosphere was shocking!!!
I agree, it's up to you youngsters now. But TBF it's hard to create an atmosphere with all this PC ****e killing our game.
Yeah, games like that make we think i'd prefer Elland Road with 20k singing their hearts out than 30k silent.
