Surely Santon should be left back and O'Shea at right back, also may swap Ben Arfa and Sessegnon's roles around.

Lol, well if they do then my answer will be Brown has played Premier League football for 12 year or more lol.

Not saying he is awful, plays well majority of time, but so does Titus :p

Well I'd class O'Shea as a centre back these days like, at right back he gets skinned a bit. Yeah maybe swap them 2 around, but I think Jonas should be there somewhere tbh.

For all you mags slagging our defense and keepers, check the goals against column. How you can reckon you have a better defense when you have let in more goals I will never know. Your team was playing much better than us BM (before Martin) and the points gap may be to much to make up this season but next season, well, we will just have to wait and see.

So much for the unity thread, one sentence has started a 'who has the better team' debate :)

The atmosphere on the board has generally improved, ever since you got rid of those 'mag-free' threads and Sunderland are doing quite well.

When Taylor-Colo have been together we just let in 8 goals in 11 games, without Taylor and when Perchino came in we let in 7 goals in 2 games lol.

So to answer your question - its Perch's fault <whistle>

Stats can prove anything, we had an injury crisis and conceded 7 in 2 games. If our best defence had played every game we'd be ahead.

Because we lost Steven Taylor, and as Williamson was injured then (our second choice CB) we had to use Perch, who was ****ing dreadful. Literally, as soon as Perch played CB, we went from conceding something like 0.6 goals per game average, to something like 3.5 goals per game average. It was ridiculous. We just had no aerial defence.

Unfortunately, Perch had a reasonably lengthy spell in the size which resulted in us conceding a lot of goals and utterly screwing up our defensive record. Shame really.

I've checked that goals against column and there's a disclaimer underneath mentioning something about 10 goals being conceded whilst James Perch was playing at CB, no biggie.

And if my auntie had a dick she would be my uncle. We have been playing midfielders in defense for the last few game if you have not noticed including against Man City, Fact is we have let in less goals than you. If we still had Gyan we might have scored a few more but we don't.

You have more points than us, do you include that particular stat in your dodgy folder.

Fair enough you had midfielders in defence, but we had Perch. Worst player in the history of the world lol.

and our best forward ****ed off after a couple of weeks of the season, thats why you need a squad. Are you saying yours is paper thin if your only CB cover is so dismal. Good help you if Colo gets injured, I think he is a very good player but he can't do it by himself.

Well I just thought I'd put my two pennorth in.
Firstly can I say well done to the OP as it makes a refreshing change of late to have a sensible post from a newbie.

Right, I've said this many times before, both clubs grew up on the back of hard working, working class folk who were damn proud to be so. Coal mining, ship building, dockers & lots of heavy industrial engineering. Back in the old days men would often attend either club depending on who was playing at home. Rivalry was always there but as time went on it got bitter & nasty with some very unsavoury incidents taking place, maybe things have mellowed a little lately.

I think one thing that unites us in some small way is the way we are both treated by the national press, they still seem to have an image of us as pit heaps, cloth caps, prize leeks & whippets. I long since gave up reading the national dailies as they treated us with constant contempt. So **** them I say. The radio & TV stations are the same.

When we do seem to be ticking along nicely & attempting to genuinely give us something to shout about, someone comes along & knicks our best players, alas, I feel that may always be the case. So you see there really is no difference between us at all apart from the colour of our stripes. Most of my family, including my dad were/are Newcastle fans.

Maybe it's because I grew up in a very mixed area, I don't know but I've always had respect for the loyalty the Mags have shown over the years & I have plenty of mates on both sides. Janie's family all come from Newcastle/Gateshead area. When I first met her brothers they took the piss a bit but in a friendly, non hostile way & soon made me one of their own. Bridges can be crossed for sure.

Mind, I've had plenty of rows with Mag lads but always we made up. There are tossers linked to every club but to me, most fans I've met are just normal people just like us. Some do have that holier than thou attitude but I'm not gonna name names. I love talking with the away fans at the burger vans after the matches & have met some cracking lads on the most unlikeliest away trips. I have had my skin saved one more than one occasion by opposing lads when thins have kicked off.

Maybe this is a bit long winded but going back to the original point, I think it's called mutual respect even though many will not agree.

You're the one quoting stats, all I'm saying is that they dont prove anything.

You have more points than us, are you saying that stat does not prove you have been a better team than us so far this season......strange
