I've never heard of any of them but Albeifura sounds like a fun place.

Albeifura's near where I've been the past two years and the area as a whole really worth going to, it's pretty much has something for everyone, loads of nice beaches, culture, nightlife.. the lot.

edit: This could be wrong but I think Leazes or maybe someone else might have gone to Albeifura? I remember someone mentioning they were going and me replying and saying it was decent.

    Where have you been hiding?

I'm sure you'll have a great time at either of them ACS, just stick a pin in and go with it.

Kick **** out of 5 Goals when you come back if you don't have a great time. <ok>

I've been to Menorca. Menorca is a really relaxing place if you find the right hotel, there's a lot of nice, all inclusive deals in menorca.

Take my advice, DO NOT GO SELF CATERING! **** down there is expensive if you're spending every night eating out.

Of course you don't want to go the whole holiday eating the hotel's food, but do the all inclusive deals.

I was at a 3 star hotel. The chefs where fantastic, the food varied every day for a fortnight.

It all depends on your hotel.

There are no themeparks that I know of, there's a couple of water parks, and a good hotel will have some fantastic kids clubs. I went when I was 14 and they had sports and activities all day, around 5/6pm they had archery and also shooting for adults.

Then there's disco's and late night entertainment till around midnight.

Menorca isn't a really crazy, active place, but it's a nice place for adults to relax, and kids to have some fun. The sea is near luke warm temperature if you go mid summer.

    <ok>

Decent advice there. Think it also depends on what ages your kids are... There's more for them to do (water parks, general days out etc etc) in Portugal if they're 10+ I'd say but Menorca is such a gorgeous little island and perfect for relaxing so I know which one I'd choose. Menorca is going to end up more expensive though from what I remember. Seem to remember that not many of the budget airlines flew there a couple of years ago, maybe it's changed now but Monarch were the cheapest for flights and they were still a lot more than mainland European flights.

Very detailed Tash-much appreciated. You'd be good as a travel writer cos I can actually picture myself on the beach there now.

Albeifura is brilliant. Very modern, loads of bars and restaurants as well as beaches. Only went for 4 days but it was really good. Watched Barca beat Man Utd in the CL final there in a bar full of mancs.

I'm off to Mexico this year, going to the Riu Cancun, really looking forward to it.

I've been to Menorca and it was great, I'd thoroughly recommend it. I've never been to Benalmadena but I've been to Marbella, Torremolinos, Malaga & Estepona which are around that way and again they were all great holidays. I've never heard of the place in Portugal you mentioned.

Had a great time in Acapulco, they talk a bit funny there but the weather and the area are great. Sly Stallone has a massive house on a cliff top there.

I dd Cancun a couple of years ago and you will love it. Watch out for the yank kids and their white suntan sock marks as they wear high socks all day in the sun
