Close season we all chat about who we might get and who we might not, days before the start of the season we manage to get a keeper and a player in on loan. Transfer window opens we grab a promising left sided midfielder on loan, we make it clear Conolly has no future, O'Brien refuses to play, Kissa, Bruce, Bromby all injured and despite us crying out for a defender we see Ipswich get St Ledger on loan with a view to a permanent, it is a no lose situation. Is Grayson purely not interested?

According to the supposedly in the know Leicester fans, Leeds were in for him and were his preferred destination. So I think we can safely say this is another transfer where Bates and Harvey have failed to offer the going rate, not Grayson being uninterested.

If this is the case Grayson should walk out, I know he loves Leeds but for how much longer can he put up with being given peanuts and expecting to find someone capable of having the quality required to get us promoted. It is one thing finding freebies and loans for the 1st Division but when will Bates realise we need more than that to even challenge for the premier.

Big chance St Ledger could yet sign for us, Ipswich deal seems to be in possible collapse and we're his first choice.

Especially given the prices that we pay.

It's easy to say that from out position, but if you were our manager would you really walk out of that job?

Thing is if Grayson was to resign today and we appointed a manager with a reputation like Forest did with McClaren and he constantly moaned about not being backed by Bates rather than working with what he's got, then we could easily be in a relegation battle. Nobody could predict that Forest would do so badly this year and they spent more than us.

Money isn't always the answer, but its a good starter.

Agree with that, there are managers who need funds to be successful, and there are managers who will do it all with none.

We are not talking players who are world class here and going to cost us an arm and a leg, we are talking of funding that would have allowed us to take Andrews on loan, St Ledger on loan with a view to a permanent deal and many others likewise. No disrespect intended towards any other club but this is Leeds Utd. A club supported by 1000's, capable of filling a 40,000 stadium, a team that makes profits without the need to sell players and a team that has still made a profit for the past 2-3 years in the transfer market.

Yes some managers need more funds than others but if you have a chairman refusing to match the wages of half the teams around you what hope is there. Grayson would walk into another job, if I were him YES I would walk, I would give an ultimatum for finances and if I did not get them I would be off planing to make a return when ****er Bates leaves

I am told is on 20k a week do you honestly think we are in with a chance we lost out on Bower ANdrews and Stockdale to Ipswich what makes people believe we will fare any better with this one.
I have said for a long time SG should tell BATES back me or sack me!The trouble is he loves his job loves the club loves the fans and loves the ladies!

Grayson is a bit like David Moyes at Everton in that he's competing against clubs with way more ambition and due to the owner he's constantly losing valuable 1st teamers. If you can't compete in the transfer market then fine, retain your best players and bring in the best players on free transfers. Until Townsend we haven't made one class loan or free signing and he's only arrived in January which is 5 months too late in terms of competing for auto promotion.
When you see the likes of Ipswich and Leicesters activity in the summer everyone takes notice and the top players want to join. Seeing Leeds messing about with goalkeepers (Grayson got 1/2 right) and only Brown as the other signing made before August, players with an ambition to play in the prem must be thinking i'll give Leeds a miss.

St. Ledger is an average championship defender with an ego like John Terry

    Sean St Ledger:

2009 Middlesbrough did not want him and he did not like the North East.
    2010 Relegated with Preston.
2011 This season he has been rejected by Leicester City.

Any we are upset that we will not pay 20k a week for him?

Hold in there lads, we have better options than this in the reserves.

Is St Ledger better than O'Dea yes I believe he is. Is he better than Kisnorbo again yes I believe he is, is he an average defender, I don't know but right now with the situation we find ourselves in I would take average and I deffinately would take St Ledger over what I have seen of McShane from Hull.

Is there a Leeds fan out there who believes that we can get promoted if we don't strengthen the squad before the transfer window closes? Being realistic how many players are going to become available who we could sign??
