I understand what you're saying Medro but I just can't imagine the English teams wanting it. How many teams for a start? When do the SPL and EPL clubs join in? What about replays?

I would say that wouldn't be impossible but highly unlikely

No idea but as a football fan I would love to see it, a domestic cup where you could possibly play the top teams in England. Plus it's something different, that we haven't seen in a while.

I'm actually thinking of backing Stevenage to win the f******g thing. A cracking bet at around 2000/1.

The idea has good and bad points, obviously it would be great for Scottish and English clubs to go up against eachother and make a bit of money in the process but the main worry for a lot of teams and fans would be travelling. For example if Inverness were drawn against Plymouth, the away team needs to travel through near enough the whole of the UK

The only way that this could really work is if the cups joined together fairly late on.
    At the semi-final stage, maybe?

Have two-legged semi-finals and keep the two teams from each country separate.
Then have the final in Cardiff.

OK, it might be great if it throws up a Celtic vs Liverpool or Man United vs Rangers, but spare a thought for fans of teams having to watch Cowdenbeath vs Morecambe or Albion Rovers vs Dagenham and Redbridge

To be fair those fans might get a much better and more exciting game. It wouldn't be the first time a big game had got all the big build up and it turned out to be a poor match, I've lost count how many times I've put on Sky Sports to watch a big game and it's been ****e

Millwall vs Celtic might be a laugh though.

Not of any interest for me. Great if we got Celtic or Rangers but the thought of freezing my nuts off at Inverness on a Wednesday night sounds ****ty. Purely selfish of course but I can't really see many benefits except some of the scottish teams making a bit of coin. Even then how interested are the scots in watching anyone except one of the top 4 in England? Plus we all know there'd be **** loads of trouble.

Edit: It would give you hope of a trip to the lovely Newcastle which I know you all love so dearly

Will N.Irish and Welsh teams be involved in a British cup? Sounds fun like, league 1 and 2 teams knocking SPL teams for six in the first round.

Most of the big games this season have been quite good in the PL. Think United 8 Arsenal 2, United 1 City 6, City 2 United 3, United 3 City 2 (Charity Shield), Chelsea 3 Arsenal 5, Chelsea 2 City 1, United 3 Chelsea 1, Tottenham 2 Arsenal 1 etc. All cracking games.

That's right and that's why your Director of Wotsit has suggested it. English fans would only be interested in their teams playing Rangers and maybe Hearts and Hibs.

    Celtic, Rangers, Hibernian, Hearts, Aberdeen

Other than that, who is there to get more than even remotely excited about?

Think that would just complicate things further.

I honestly don't think League 1 & League 2 teams would "knocking SPL teams for six."
