Mark Hughes will probably use the promised cash and the rest of the transfer window to stamp his authority/personality (?) on the club. The rumour mill is already huffing and puffing into over-drive with a list of names we are being linked with but who do you think we stand any real chance of bagging before the end of the month? Drogba, Bent, Bridge, Samba, Defoe? All linked with us in recent articles. Also, which players are going to have to polish up their CV's? The lobby at Loftus Road stadium is going to look like the departure lounge at Heathrow soon. Players who may be feeling a tad squeaky in the nether regions could be Derry, Hill, Orr, Smith, Bothroyd, Campbell, Buzz but until Sparky takes a few training sessions and gets to see the team play against the Toon he won't know the diamonds from the donkeys.
Grove - I Hughes has been doing his research he will already have an idea who stays and goes. The players departing between now and July include Perone Rowly Cook ****tu Buzz Hall Connolly (poss loan) Gabbidon Hulse Moen Dave Vine Orr (summer) Derry (summer) Hill (Summer) Funnily enough I think players like Hewitt, Mackie, SWP will get more from MH coming in. Not sure where HH wl stand but see a huge size 15 boot going up the jacksy of one or two players not mentioned
Good call. A lot of our players had been underperforming under Warnock (last season they did the opposite under him). If Sparky turns that round, we'll have basically a good team which he can enhance over the next 3 weeks. Those 3 weeks are crucial - it may all happen in the last week. Hold on to your hats...
It wouldn't surprise me if 7 or 8 players come in with some being loans, some of our squad just aren't up to it and I don't think MH will want them at the club...
We can't afford not to beat Wigan,we have to get 3 points from that game.Getting in someone to cover Faurlin and at least 1 centre-back is imperative before that game!
Same as you Ninj, although I expect Gabbidon to stay until the summer. Will lose Bothroyd and maybe DJ then as well. AND I expect Adel to go as soon as possible. Don't think his "team" will want thim to stay.
Good point. Taarabt's inclusion or otherwise will give us a very good guide to how MH intends to set out his stall. Personally I think any manager would be nuts to let such an obvious talent just walk away without at least trying to work with them. On the other hand the manager will not be keen to hand out a contract extension without even seeing the lad and the club will be well aware he will be free to leave in 6 months anyway.
If he dumps AT without trying him I would be surprised unless Taarabt is already sold to QATAR hence the funds New Era Clean Sheets
