why our injury estimation is always way off? Diaby was meant to be off for 10days in November, 6weeks he is still out! The same applies to Jack and TV.... On the other hand Spuds manage to get their KEY players back in no time... VDV was expected to be out for 2weeks, he was back playing in a few days, Bale was meant to be sidelined for some time, also he did not miss a game..... are these playing regardless of a few niggles here and there?
I think we take a cautious approach to injuries these days. In the past we've rushed players back before they were ready in the past and paid for it. I think now, we make sure they are 100% ready before they come back As for VDV, he keeps getting recurring hamstring problems and then he's out again. Probably because they keep rushing him back.
Dawson was supposed to be back before Christmas and Huddlestone was initially thought to be back by November, then December and now mid-Feb. Normally we have quite bad luck with injuries but this season we have been lucky with only a few injuries to key players, particularly with VDV and King, although King's now out for 7/8 weeks. We've had a fair few fringe players getting injured lately but I think you've had it worse. That said RVP has remained uninjured for you and given how injury prone he's been that's been a big surprise, just as King has been for us.
I just think we are too cautious with our Key players as regards injuries, and think Spuds are not (think the only reason Harry will not play VDV, Modric, Bale and Parker is if they had a broken leg!)..... we will not take a gamble on 50/50 fitness and play the player, even if if it is for 50 mins, and sometimes that can be the difference between 3points and 1 point...... Remember Aaron Lenon last season, Harry played him despite him not being fit....... and he signalled to come off to the costernation of spud fans....
If you're referring to the game I think you are, we'd used all 3 subs and 'Arry wanted him to stay on the pitch even of he was just hobbling around on the halfway line. Lennon decided he'd rather go off though. 'Arry played VDV a lot when he was only half fit last season, though.
Precisely my point...... Another obvious candidate is Ledley King, when was the last time he played fully fit....He manages to make a miraculous recovery when big teams come to town......
King can't train so therefore he will never be fully fit. He gets swelling in his knees after playing which take 3-5 days to go down and even then most of his training is fitness based in a swimming pool. Even if we have to wheel him out he's worth playing because we're so much better with him in the team, we've yet to lose with him in the team this season.
I think this has answered your question omo. Spurs play their key players even when they are carrying injuries - Arsenal don't.
