2010/2011 season; 50 goals in 46 league games, 2011/12 we didn't score more than one goal in any game under Pearson. Some of the games might have been exciting towards the end but the fact is we didn't score goals under him because he is primarily a defensive manager as highlighted by the contrast with Barmby's style.
You can quote stats all you like but anyone who saw us play this season would know that we did play pretty attacking football. The problem wasn't creating chances it was putting them in the back of the net. Don't get me wrong Pearson is more defensive than Barmby in his philosophies, he builds his teams from the back and makes them solid first and foremost but he isn't a Peter Taylor who gets a goal in the 1st minute and then sits back to defend it for 89 minutes.
