I said a while back that I had seen enough of Loftus Road earlier this millenium to last me a lifetime and wouldn't be going to the game in February. The hell with that. I'll be there to voice my loss of any respect I had for the mercenary called Hughes - it will be the only chance I get while he's at QPR. And to see the lads return the compliment, in spades, of his opinions of Fulham.
It will be interesting to see who Hughes brings into their squad for the transfer window. Could they be players he was looking to bring in for us. Will such an ambitious manager really just want to consolidate, and just keep them in the Premier or will he take them on a spending spree that may see them crash and burn back to the depths of the Championship like many other clubs have done before. Just can't see that QPR can be a club that can compete for a top 6 spot. But I can see them doing a Charlton.
I don't know SBM, if you chuck enough money at a team, it goes places - look at Man City, and to a lesser extent, us!
I'm not talking about it again but I couldn't resist one post. To hear yesterday that Hughes was interested in the QPR job made me laugh so much. After all that has happened in the end it was down to desperation for a job - any job, and poor old QPR have got him and his entourage. Well if there is money to be spent, he'll spend it and I suspect QPR will stay up, just - but they probably would have done with Warnock. I shall watch with much interest on this one.
Reading the Standard last night they seem to think he is after BZ and AJ for £8m and £2m respectively... Can see AJ going but not BZ unless someone else comes in!
Stand corrected about Senderos. Forgot that RH signed him. On another note, our very own FulhamJohn has been on their board with an interesting article about Hughes, preparing the Hoops faithful for the inevitable. You can imagine the response he got!
Hughes can have Etuhu, he seemed to rate him highly enough. Fernandes has also come out and said that he expects QPR to be finishing in the European places next season. Pressure's on Sparkles.
That's the ambition that Sparky has... To get into Europa League play-offs! Or championship play-offs!
I'll tell you this now, they are more likely to be in the bottom six of the Championship next season than they are top six of the Premier League.
Bandit, to be honest don't really care where they are as long as we beat them at Loftus Road with sparky as the manager!!!
Oh I want that too, but I really think there are better teams in the Championship that would be better suited to the Premier League. Southampton, Nottingham Forest, Leeds, Ipswich are all Premier League clubs who can fill 30,000 seated stadiums whereas QPHA struggle to fill 18,000 with 2,000 of that being away fans. Add to the fact that their fans are incredibly delusional. Did anyone see Paul Parker compare them to Man Utd? What a waste of space that man is.
Great to see your all so upset about the appointment of Hughes at QPR, confirms we made the right decision. It is a horrible feeling when your club fails to show ambition to take them onto the next level. I remember Fulham playing in the lower leagues while we were in the top tier, I can see those days returning. Martin jol has to be the goon of the EPL, he can't even keep Zamora happy, how depressing!! For your information AMBITION = new stadium, new training facilities, academy, investment in players, passionate fans. Read the interviews guys, Hughes left because Fayed won't take your team to the next level. Let's be honest if you go down you ain't never coming back!!!! Looking forward to seeing your little glum faces at Loftus Road knowing you have made an investment at the same time (every little helps).
Been away for a few days, but I could not resist a smile when hearing that Sparky has bettered himself by going to QPR. No offence to our neighbours across the river, but he was looking for a Top 4+ club to show off his skills. As previously noted previously he hardly gets the best advice from KiaJ (the same guy representing Tevez). If he manages to keep QPR up, and assuming our form continues to improve, then MH will get a pretty rubbish reception when he comes to The Cottage next season (contrast with Roy, MickyA, Coookie etc with only Sanchez the odd-ball todate). As to Chairman Mo willingly letting any of our players go to QPR - I think not! C O Y W
Very gracious response, Loopy (!) For what it's worth, I think Hughes is a good appointment for you, and I think he'll keep you up. I don't think the rest of your view on Jol or Fulham makes a lot of sense. We're unbeated in four games, which includes a draw with Chelsea and a win against Arsenal. The mood on this board is moving steadily in Jol's favour. While some are still unconvinced by him, increasingly he's winning over the Fulham fans and getting us playing exciting attacking football. You might remember 6 examples of that from earlier in the season - perhaps that's the horrible feeling you refer to in your petty gloating above. Goon of the EPL? That's a bit rich coming from a fan of the team that pays Joey Barton's wages. Ambition = expanding the stadium to hold 30,000 and a set up - training facilities, academy, back-room staff - that Hughes himself described as the best he'd ever worked with as a manager when he arrived here. Depending on who you believe, Hughes left either because Al Fayed wouldn't pay £15m for a striker who he felt was overpriced, or that Jol wouldn't back Hughes' transfer judgement because he wanted to force Hughes out so he could appoint Jol, who was out of work by then. If it's the latter, that's a bit shoddy on our part and I don't blame Hughes for feeling agrieved. As for no investment in players, we've hardly been slow to put our hand in our pocket since Jol arrived - £10m for Ruiz raised eyebrows, and after a slow settling in period, Ruiz is showing that he's well worth the money. As for 'if you go down you ain't never coming back', well, who's talking about going down? We're top half at the moment - even with Hughes, you're in more danger than we are. And I think we're better equipped than you to bounce back quickly if it came to it. I rate Hughes, but like most on this board I never really liked him. I think Jol is a better manager and seems to be a much more likeable character. I think both of our clubs are better off with who they have now.
LoopyR the issue for me is nothing to with Hughes. Good luck, the more teams from London in the EPL is a great thing I believe. I'm not into this inter team rivalry. We are entitled to an opinion and if we had posted all of it on your board then I would understand your unhappiness, but we didn't so I can't see what your problem is with us discussing Hughes' appointment on our own board. We like a bit of banter on here but don't come on slagging our team and manager off please, it's just rude!
