    25mins - Another wonderful run from Ameobi - who is being urged to stay wide whenever possible by Pardew - ends in him digging out a cross for Jason Prior, who fails to get enough power behind his header allowing Nicholls to save. Prior looks strong in the air and is a tall, strong lad who is clearly enjoying wearing the famous Newcastle number nine shirt today.

    44mins - NEWCASTLE GOAL (1-0): It has been coming and finally United lead thanks to Remie Streete, with his first ever Barclays Premier Reserve League goal. Inevitably, Ameobi was involved as it was his deep free-kick from the left, following a foul on Donaldson, which led to the ball finding Gosling at the far post. His clever dink was attacked by Donaldson and Streete, with the 17-year-old defender forcing home despite the best efforts of Nicholls, who thought he had done enough to prevent the whole ball going over the line only for an assistant referee to flag for a goal

    Chuffed for him...Even if this trial (for whatever unknown reason) doesn't work out, the lad just did what anyone of us would pay good money to do - score a goal as Newcastle No.9!
