I think the best thing for everybody, Obertan included, at the moment would be for Pardew to take him out the team for a while. It isn't doing the player or the team any good having him sat out on the right hand-side being jeered for 90 minutes. I think Pards should do some work with him on the training ground and then bring him back into the team once everybody is confident that he is able to go out there and show us the player that he can be - because he can be a damn-good player!!

Find it simply despicable that people were cheering him for being subbed against Blackburn. He gives his all for the team and may not be fully developed but he's a Newcastle player and those who cheered him off are ****ing disgraceful ****s.

I'm sure it'll do wonders for his confidence.

Totally off topic, but has anyone else realised how brilliant he is on FM?

Anyhow, I think he should be put in as a super sub much like ben arfa has been, whereas ben arfa should be starting.

He is 100% one of the worst, if not the worst winger to wear the shirt. Terrible.

Never boo your own players. Why do it? They know if they've put in a bad performance because the manager will tell them. I don't care who he is but when he's wearing a Newcastle shirt all we should do is give him support.

I'm all for not jumping on peoples back too quickly.

I remember when we lost to WBA a few seasons back. Danny Guthrie had one of the worst games I've ever seen in my life and I thought he wasn't good enough for us. But his performances last season and this season when given a CM berth have been very good, excellent in some cases.

I think Danny Guthrie has proved so many fans he's capable (I know alot of people on here were still willing to give him time but some of the abuse he got from the stands was unwarranted).

Hopefully Obertan will do the same if people give him time, if not he leaves, no harm done as long as he isn't halting others progress.

Even at Bolton when he eventually got the assist, he had a chance to cross it earlier which would have given Ba a much easier chance but instead decided to do a few pointless stepovers then cross it. Pointless.

The abuse of Obertan is indicative of the idiots that go to cheap games. I am all for kids going to matches, but it's the 14-17 year olds, pissed up for the first time that ruin it for everyone. They were the ones that embarassed us at Darlington, and are the ones that boo-ed and critisised Obertan from the off on Saturday, despite him doing quite well at times.

That said, there was some old bloke stood by me in the concourse telling his young son that Obertan was the worst, and laziest player he'd ever seen. The young lad even said, "I think he's been ok Dad" and he was shot down in flames. The morons that 'support' our club on a part time basis make my blood boil, with players like Obertan and in particular Shola, you really only appreciate them watching them live week in week out. Shola was instrumental in our wins against Man U and Blackburn, Obertan similarly so against Stoke and in the draw at OT, however clowns that just watch MOTD and read the bilious, bias drivel on the Chronicle website form incorrect and ill-informed decisions on players and then proceed to boo them during the one game a year they go to.

This, this and this. Although at the Blackburn game, it didn't seem to be just young people jeering/booing Obertan, it was all different sections, there was a load of old blokes around me in the East Stand screaming at him everytime he got the ball.

It honestly disgusts me, and I feel for the lad a lot. Must be horrible, whatever money you're on, to hear your own fans cheering you when you're subbed. Wish these pricks would **** off (I'll finish before I sound even more like Tash).

Difference is Guthrie wasn't fit, and had played well previously. Obertan is fit and hasn't just had one bad game.

Guthrie is not convincing at all for me. First and foremost the kid is always ****ing injured. Add to that this is the first season I think he has rocked up in the correct condition for a professional footballer. The when you analyse it you can count his good games for us on your hands. That would be fine if it wasn't his 4th year with the club! Danny still has it all to prove for me. I think he has ability but he is lazy, injury prone and gives away far too many petty free kicks.

I didn't really worded that rightly, I ment that as long as in the future he doesn't. Surely Ben Arfa will be on, especially at home after he caused many problems from the right v Blackburn.
