Shame we never tried to sign this fella. Official site punsters would have had a field day... please log in to view this image
I was gutted Celtic didn't sign Rod Fanni when they were linked with him. Could have had a backline of Naylor-Balde-Fanni.
Time is passing and none of our rumoured targets seem to have moved anywhere else yet, in fact there seems to very little activity anywhere in the Championship of significance, is it a money thing?
No its the over hyping of the 'transfer windows'. Sky even have a countdown timer on it..Only 2o odd days to go. lol. That spurs on those who are a little easily excited to keep pressing F5 on transfer pages At the end of the day just check the OS once each day..............at night would be best...........and then try to find something to do, a hobby perhaps. There is more to life than non stop checking to see if transfers are going to go through. As for the money thing. Of course it is. Start an ebay auction today and list it for 1 day and you will get less potential purchasers and lower final value than if you run it for 10 days!!! Same with transfers. If one team really wants a player then they will still buy in the middle or end of the window unless they buy elsewhere. If a player is good enough that doesn't matter because there will be multiple interest. I would assume that we are only looking at players that fall into that latter category.
There's the offshore account used to pay players. There's also the failure to submit audited accounts as a listed entity. However, the most remarkable piece of this farce is that their owner is in fact a disqualified company director. You couldn't make it up.
just seen a rumour about carlos vela. what do you think. I'm not sure, it would have to happen first and then judge after the first few games.
This is the difficult season to get players as everyone wants to hold on to decent players because teams are going for promotion or trying to avoid relegation. In the summer, it's more like a clean start and everyone starts swapping around. No one wants to lose a player they can't replace at the moment. So you come down to spare players or teams that are financially struggling. Loans are more likely as you can get fringe PL or SPL players, but I'm not sure if that will work for us.
err i think we have done quite well with loans the last few years! found some gems and even the ones that didnt stay really played their part. and Vela? all i know is he was incredible on FM a couple of years ago.....
I'm against loans unless it's loans with a view to purchase. As soon as the loan ends it's just another position you have to fill it, your team will be weaker for it unless you bring someone in. That said, loan with a view to purchase is very good. Guly, Chaplow and Hooiveld all impressed on loan so we brought them in, harmless. No need to replace them, as we've found a very good player and in all three cases, brought them in for probably less than their market worth.
A Pompey fan said to me yesterday that Redknapp would find a good player in his thirties who could fill a gap. We don't do that..we've shown no tendency to get loans of ageing PL players..Cortese is trying to stick to his core belief of building a young side and letting youngsters come through. Whether he will be pragmatic and suspend this rule in order to get promotion only time will tell.
