ride height adjustment for improved aerodynamics sounds a little illegal to me on a couple of fronts, but probably sits in the interpretation of the rules. On a side note are the rules in one language? or are different teams given the rules in the language of their team? The interpretation of interpretations are often slightly ambiguous, as so many different versions of the bible will tell you.

Especially with Pedro de la Rosa on the grid. Spain's new, old boy.

on a side note, did anyone else read the title and think it meant the Caterham? I was a little excited at the thought one of the backmarkers could do a Brawn.

How much of an advantage would this give Lotus?
Are we talking wins, podiums or just points?

You make a good point about interpretations Miggins, although I think an distinction between 'interpretation' and 'translation' can be made. (Following from your bible reference, and for a bit of fun, see below).
Much to the chagrin(sic) of the French, who originally fostered the concept of international motor-racing and therefore see themselves as its 'inventor'; the regulations are initially written in English. It is up to each team to understand and, if they wish, translate them.

    Wandering slightly 'off-topic'…
Pedantic semantics: the root of all evil?

Although I have made the subtle distinction between translation (the process of rendering meaning in a different language) and interpretation (the action of explaining meaning), people who translate language are called interpreters as well as translators! Furthermore, one need only compare the results from two translation programmes (note that they are not called interpretation programmes) to see that Google and Yahoo may not necessarily make the same interpretations! This can be the root of disagreement and argument (again, there is an important distinction) on all scales, and certainly includes religion and war.

Utopia requires tolerance, but isn't having such a rule contrary to the very notion of utopia? Thus it is that utopia and dystopia would seem ends of a string laid out in a circle; inextricably tied…

lol, pendantic semantics, how much freedom are the free allowed?

as to the regulations, maybe we should all study them hard and sell our interpretations to the highest bidder.

Not having a Spanish GP would be almost as ridiculous as not having a British GP, especially now we have a Spanish team on the grid as well.

I reckon this is tactical by the Spaniards - I'm fairly certain Alonso brings a fair amount of revenue in Spain for Bernie. Wonder if they're trying to force his hand..

Stefano Domenicali has confirmed Ferrari will launch its 2012 Formula 1 challenger on February 3 at Maranello. Ferrari also plan to hold an initial shakedown of its 2012 car either on its launch or on the following day.

Ferrari have also signed Hirohide Hamashima, the former director of Bridgestone's tyre development, to head up its department dealing with the interaction between car and tyres.

    (Both stories from Autosport)

Ferrari are certainly building up a strong team, whether they can gel in time for 2012 or whether it will lead to future domination only time will tell.

The signing of Hamashima is excellent news. Another recent Ferrari signing is Steve Clark (a key Mercedes man). Domenicali mentioned today at Wroom that Ferrari were waiting for the FIA confirmation as to whether the rumoured Lotus design is legal - Andrew Benson says it is illegal. Tomorrow it's Massa and Alonso's turn to speak to the media.

I don't know why people are reporting this today; Montezemolo confirmed the launch date weeks ago.

Ferrari are doing their final crash test today. They passed the other two crash tests in 2011.

I'm getting really intrigued by Renault(Lotus), will their car and drivers be on the bubble, or will Kimi's return be as laughable as Schumachers and the car even worse than the one they ended last season with? Of all the teams I think it's the hardest to guess where it'll end up. All the others will be roughly in the same positions as last season, with maybe Williams moving up a place or 2, but Renault, there almost seems to be an equal chance of them going for the title or battling with the HRTs, Virgin and Caterhams for Q2

The problem with getting excited about Renault is they were meant to be last season's surprise package too. :(

Surprised it was declared legal though. Just under a month 'till we find out if it was worth it too!
