This is not the debate I expected from this thread - a bit of Foy bashing was what I thought! It's been interesting though all the same, so thanks for the responses <ok>

NSSS - your link has made my mind up on this, that was a fantastic, legal challenge (although I am glad he will miss the Spurs game, cause he is up there in the King class for me and there is no higher praise). The leading foot - his right - is studs down, the left comes through slowly studs up, because it is physically impossible for it to do anything else, given the challenge he made and I am surprised you and HIAG can't see that. Apart from his assistant (Rooney) everybody else is surprised at the response.

I've enjoyed the debate, but I cannot agree with the people who think that should have been a red. Luckily he has zero chance of having it rescinded <cheers>.

Studs are down are they?....I'm more than happy to agree to disagree, but if someone thinks any of these pics show studs pointing down, I strongly advise an eye test. <ok>

"after the challenge"...you make it sound like half an hour, its speed of a camera shutter, not enough time to change position. That was the position of his foot before the tackle in the vid, he briefly scuffs the grass with his heel. Can't see why you're persisting with it tbh HD its unequivocal, but its up to you mate. This matter is closed for me. :) <ok>

You are obviously a closet "scum" by failing to mention the tackle from behind by Giggs!

Agree, just a difference of opinion. Not something I care much about anyway, and I've enjoyed the debate. <ok>

Just one thing, you did watch the vid all the way through, including the view from behind Kompany?

Yes, and I still see it different to you (probably gone on too long now for me to back down now - if I suddenly noticed he took a knife into the tackle I'd probably argue it was fair).

  9. Huh?

How does me being a "closet scum" (whatever one of those is!) alter, in any way, the fact that the FA has instructed referees that two-footed lunges carry a mandatory red card?

I've already agreed that Foy made genuine mistakes in the game, but that Kompany's red card was not one of them.

Not quite sure what you're trying to say, fella?

Just suprised that with your refereeing expertise you picked out the pen for the scum rather than the lunge from behind by Giggs as one of his other mistakes, but no harm done guess you didn't see it! By the way good luck when you play them.

It was a foul by Kompany, and so it's a case of whether it's rightly punishable by a red or not, that's debatable.

Having hindered us v Stoke (I'm being polite), Foy has maybe helped us now v City.

I'd rather have the three points from the Stoke game tagged onto to our total, but that's gone now obviously.

The appeals panel have no consistency Lidls, so they may as well have given it a shot.
It's unlikely that he'd have been given an extra game, so they didn't really lose anything.

They are on his right foot - a bit upward on the left foot, mind...

I should caveat what I said that a yellow and a warning about future challenges in the game would be suitable. My opinion was upon seeing several replays and ignoring the actual rules. In real time the ref can't and shouldn't make a judgement call on how close to being a dangerous tackle that it was, they can see that he has no control of his challenge once he left the ground which is reckless and enough for him to go, it's a close call as to whether it was dangerous however and for the ref can't keep him on the pitch if he's throwing himself about.

If a Spurs player goes in two feet off the deck, and gets a red, you'll see no post from me. We all cringe when we see a bad one, and to remove this type of challenge, it has to be a blanket rule. People think this one was not malicious. Kompany the brick ****house v feeble Nani in a 50/50!!! does VK really feel that was the only way to come out with the ball, against someone half his size...2nd time sent off in one half season. King never sent off in his career. <ok>

Luke, I see you applaud Vidic and Kompany, sly dirty twats the pair of them...see disciplinary record.

VK's was a bullies tackle imo, I'd like to see him do it to the beast that is Kaboul. :)

In an ideal World that's what I feel should be given. I was qualifying what I'd said earlier.
