Maynard is an excellent footballer, capable of representing his country on the back of a season in the Prem.
Frankly we do not want him to go, but if he has to then I would rather WBA and Simon Cox.

However, for Maynard both WBA and Swansea would represent a good move, and he would score goals in the Prem.

Just a thought though - Caulker and now Maynard. Since when did Bristol City become Swansea's feeder club ?

Personally I'm hoping Dobbie does sign for us.

Personally I'd sooner we went in for Cox, left Maynard alone and kept Dobbie (if he can sort out his attitude).

Have to agree with you somewhat with Swamp... seems like an awful lot of money for someone who is out of contract in the summer - not doubting the lads talent, but I'd rather see that money spend elsewhere in the squad... still in buck i trust...

He might possibly be! but he needs a new challenge and personally I dont think he has all the attributes needed to go on to international level.

    Hope he proves me wrong.

Not to sure about this move , but then again , that's why we pay Buck the big bucks . I get the feeling Dobbie's going to go somewhere , finally get to play a lot , and make a huge contribution . I think we wasted Stephen Dobbie since the day Martinez left .

The one thing that bothers me, despite all these story's only wolves have actually made an offer!! I have no doubt there's all sorts of behind the scenes discussions between clubs and agents but personally just want this over and done with, and not left to the last day of the window when a) we may not be able to replace Nicky (do we really need too with pitman and stead waiting) b) panic buys at the end of Jan rarely seem to work out. Lets get the deal done and then work on survival!!

maynard is a class player we all know that and the tigers put a bid of £6 million when sven was incharge that was turned down by bristol city, today the tide has turned as they cant get anywhere near that sort of money for him now as his contract is coming to an end and he could end up going for free. i think having revised the situation then £1 to £2 million plus dobbie is a great offer that should be enough, bristol are in a position that is not good and we know all about that all to well...

I would rather keep him than sell for 1-2mil...what's the point......he could well keep us from relegation....that's worth more

Not sure how I feel about this, I don't want to loose Dobbie and would rather see Beattie go. Fancy Beattie Bristol? He's a great player and is never injured so you'll be sure to get a good return from him!! <ok> I've not seen Maynard a lot so I'll save my judgment on him. Better to get someone in permanently rather than another one on loan though!!

I be sad to see Dobbie leave because of his attacking flair, BUT, at this level teams cannot afford to carry anyone and i am afraid he cannot defend / support the midfield when we don't have the ball. My question is weather Maynard is any better. Buck must think so, which is good enough for me.

It looks like we will be going in for Albert Adomah as well -

What a pair of Bristol cities - Swansea City are eyeing a double raid on Bristol City pair Nicky Maynard and Albert Adomah.

The People says Swansea are the latest Premier League club trying to land Maynard.

And boss Brendan Rodgers is considering a double raid on Bristol City that could also see Adomah switch to the Liberty Stadium.

Rodgers and his board are hopeful that a deal can be reached – even if it is only Maynard who ends up completing a transfer.

Maynard is a player who could fit in to any team at any level and could play for England as he adapts to any team he plays so playing at a higher level of football will also make him play to a higher level of football. He learnt his trade like other great strikers have at Crewe and hopefully we have helped him develop in to a striker that could take the prem league by storm as long as any club who signs him don't expect a 30 goal a season striker as to me he always looked like a second striker and scores most of his goals around the box rather than in the box

I disagree hugely. Top end Championship or maybe lower Prem is the best he can hope for, international candidate, no.

Are you also really seriously suggesting he could play for Barca, Man U, or Real Madrid ?

    p** off Lan <laugh>

Andy you say he's more of a second striker and scores most of his goals around the box rather than in the box. I'm glad to hear that because we need players who can score goals outside the box as well but I'd like a bit of both. But Dobbie does provide that so I'm a little confused as to why we're getting rid of him and replacing him with a player who may not be any improvment. Can Maynard track back and defend, do you think Maynard is like the upgrade of Dobbie?

"Dobbie is just not the standard we need"

Based on two starts and a few cameos in the Prem. <doh>

We don't deserve this player. Good luck to him and to BCFC. <ok>
