you are very right and i can only wish for that to be the case today. I hate the way that tackles are basically being banned. Red cards are now so often in games and are becoming turning points, that should not be the case it should be more about the better footballing team than the team with the better discipline
I remember the days you had to win the title to be in the European cup otherwise it was Eufa Cup and Cup Winners Cup for the FA Cup winners, those were much more exciting times. To think a team can win the Champions League (League of Champions?) by finishing 5th (quarter of the way down the table) it just isn't the same.
Know what you mean. but who's going to object to being in the Champions League without winning the Premier League? I know that we didn't!!
Of course we didn't protest. But its a joke that the team in 4th can enter. Its also a joke how teams are seeded and how teams can drop into the UEFA(Sorry europa) league after finishing 3rd in the so called champions league.
IMO top 2 + FA cup winners should enter the CL, with 3rd, 4th and League Cup winners entering Europa League. Finalists in Europa League get automatic entry into next season's CL.
I wouldn't complain should we manage to get promoted and then finish 4th and qualify of course I wouldn't but calling it the 'champions' league when you don't have to be a 'champion winning' team is wrong. The Europa league is also a joke with teams putting out weakened sides.
Yea because people dont take it seriously, the league focus now is more than ever. Do you think that Birmingham woulda done so badly this season if they weren't in Europe. Same thing with Tottenham, is in truth they just want to focus on cementing themselves as a threat in the league so they put overly weakened teams into Europe and lose to teams they really are far too good to lose to.
Birmingham haven't done badly in the league even though they've been distracted by Europe. They beat us comfortably, & are above us having played a game less.
Yea but i'd argue that birmingham are probably the strongest team in this division or at least in the top 3 or 4. They are under performing and you must look at europe to see why or at least for an excuse why.
they didnt beat us comfortably either. an even game which we controlled, but we just didnt create enough clear chances
