Martin Jol has confirmed that Ray Houghton is coming out of retirement as cover for Danny Murphy and Les Strong as cover for Senderos - just in case!
That's typical of this club's narrow view of things. We should be bringing Ronnie Rooke back from the grave as cover for Bobby!
If wartime games counted, Ronnie Rooke would be our all-time leading goalscorer. He scored 78 goals in 110 'proper' appearances for us between 1936 and 1946, but a further 212 goals in 198 wartime matches as well. After the war he joined Arsenal and scored 68 goals in 88 appearances there. I didn't know all those stats, by the way, I had to check my details at the following links. Thanks, google. http://www.football.co.uk/fulham/famous_fulham_players__no_48_ronnie_rooke_rss1020221.shtml
I say bring back Coleman to slot in beside Hangeland and Jerome Bonnissel to play left back. Throw McBride up front too.
Also am I the only one who would like to see Facundo Sava back? Just for the goal celebration if nothing else.
I think it would be foolish for the FAW to appoint Coleman, surely Speed's assistants have to carry on the work Speed started rather than bringing someone else in to start over again. Before Speed was appointed I was all for Coleman getting the job over Speed whose only club management experience was a less than successful stint at Sheffield United.
Unlike, The Captain I never saw Ronnie Rooke play. But wartime games were mostly against hastly organised scratch teams,so one must, ignore these games. Fortunately I did see, who in my opinion, was Fulhams greatest c/f BEDFORD JEZZARD his goal scoring was prolific 160 games played 123 goals scored, his career being cut short at the age of 28. Incidently, his name Bedford, was taken from the Balham pub where his father was landlord.
I don't understand why Marlet (who had a much better goalscoring record and actually cost less) gets so much stick and AJ doesn't. All of Marlet's goals came in the Premier League and not against the likes of Crusaders and Dnipro. I'm not saying that Marlet doesn't deserve the stick, but surely AJ has been even more of a failure?
Bandit. Exactly my thoughts. Some AJ stats. Cost = £ 10mil wages @ 40k p w x 177wks till 10th Jan 2012 = £ 7,080000 Total trans: fee & wages = seventeen million & eighty thousand pounds Divided by league goals scored, in matches played at Fulham 13 EACH GOAL SCORED HAS COST 1 MILLION THREE HUNDRED AND THIRTEEN THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED AND FORTY SIX POUNDS AND SOME SAY I AM ALLWAYS PICKING ON A TALENTED PLAYER "C/F ARE BOUGHT TO SCORE GOALS"
