Santos, a relatively small club, BUT he's one of the biggest names in world football! If another Santos player had done that, it wouldn't even have made the shortlist!

From OptaJoke on Twitter - "Once Messi wins his 6th successive Ballon d'Or he will then rest. Godly"

He's not a top class defender though, but I was talking more about Pique.

Both are great footballers, but agree about defensively they are a bit over hyped. That team would keep the ball and not give the opposition a touch like, so wouldn't need to worry haha

It's difficult, because you want to look at his international form to see if he is really that good, but he plays for Spain <laugh> I don't think Ramos should be in that XI either actually.

I think the only reason Rooney got in over RVP is because he got to the final of the CL. (which i think is stupid)

RVP has been spectacular in the Prem but hasn't done much with Arsenal in the CL

Rooney wouldn't even feature in my top 5 strikers of 2011 tbh, never mind getting in to the team of the year!

RVP, Messi, Ronaldo, Cavani, Villa and Aguero had better years imo

Ramos, Vidic and Rooney in team of the year? Deary me.

Rooney hasn't been good for two years now. Vidic is past it. Ramos is an average defender that just kicks people that are too good for him (usually Messi).

Should have been Kompany, Jordi Alba and RVP instead.

RVP is a center forward and Messi is an AM.

Seriously Messi, 43 goals and 21 assists in 2011. Watched a video of nearly all his goals for Barca earlier, 202 of his goals. Just watched thinking wow. Best of all time.

He plays as the most advanced player on the pitch for Barca now. I know he plays deeper for Argentina, but on club appearances, I'd call him a forward, even if Barca don't seem to play a set formation.
